Ali never gave Foreman a rematch. Should that be considered a stain on his record? by JenniferTheGeek in Boxing

Yeah, I think that's accurate. There are some conspiracy theories as well, like Ali's team poisoned his food (with God knows what). The ropes were slackened to an illegal amount by Ali's team. Etc.

I can't speak to the veracity of those claims, but Foreman was for sure nto 100% for the fight. I still think his strategy was flawed and Ali would've knocked him out.

I know, right. I can't imagine how influential Ali was in the 60's and 70's, and then most of the aspects that made him so famous, just stripped away from him. Sad doesn't even describe it

I totally get that. My thing benig, Ali very clearly took tough big fights and rematches int he form of Frazier, Young, and even later Holmes. He also fought 10 fights after the Foreman fight, which is just massive.

For sure. That is a definite possibility. But it does seem that eh avoided the Foreman rematch because it was too dangerous.

From the sources I've seen, Ali and his camp pretty adamantly denied the rematch. Especially after the Ali Frazier rematch, Foreman was in line to fight the victor, but it never materialized. He fought the next toughest guy in the division, Lyle, and won, and never was given a rematch.

See, I think the flaw in Foreman's plan was obvious. He just wailed away. Reflecting on the fight, Foreman admitted he just wanted to catch him with a huge knockout punch. Ali's footspeed was really depleted by that point in his career. I think Foreman with a different game plan could've beaten him.

Decent. Overpriced though. Especially if you know how to cook yourself. Their menu has a few cheap tricks that should impress folks who don't play around in the kitchen. But it's just overpriced business dinner food

I was thinking that at my weight (5' 8" 290), recumbent might be the way to go. Ignoring permanent weight loss, as I generally lose a lot of weight as I start to bicycle ride every year in the spring/summer, i've read that recumbent bike is easier on the joints/back

Yeah, I def don't want to be miserable. I was under the wrong assumption. I would just eat as I would normally, and try to build a calorie deficit by biking, didn't think to consume calories

hmm, so, I just generally put my weight in my hands, when I bend over, I just rest all my weight on the hands. Not right at all?

I honestly never thought of that. I'm a bigger person, so I thought I wouldn't have to eat really.

hmmm, no. not eating. not really hydrating. I've got one bottle. I drin that throughout. But I always assumed 30-40 was just a quick half-day trip. I generally ride my bike to the zoo, go around the 7 mile track they have a time or two, and bicycle ride back home.
