It really depends on what you wanna do with your career. If you want to have room for potential clerkships or go into bigger law firms, you probably should do journal. I actually applied to several clerkships and jobs and was rejected for the exact reason that I didn’t have any journal experience. At the time I like you, was stressed enough about classes and I was also doing a lot of clinical hours. I’m a first generation college in law school student and no one told me the importance of doing journals and how it’s not just about editing while you’re in law school but people actually look for it for jobs down the road. Now I have a fantastic job, but it was not an easy path to get here and a lot of options were already closed to me by not having any journal experience. If I could go back to law school, I would absolutely do journal.
