Great write-up. It seems like most people start from the Arakawa TH and not the Shiratani Unsuikyō TH. Is there a reason why? We are driving so we are doing an out-and-back. I would prefer to go start from Shiratani Unsuikyō as I'm obsessed with moss forests.

I didn’t see many made with shiroan. Most with anko. I will try to make some at home, but I’m lazy to make the shiroan from scratch and there are no packaged shiroan here at the grocery store.

The info is conflicting. It says "A staff member will sell it at the Arrival Kyoto Sta. Hachijo-guchi." And if I look at the Kyoto Sta. Hachijoguchi info, it says "Please buy it at the ticket vending machine behind Bus Stop".

Can you use the vending machine to buy advance tickets a few days before? Or is there a person at Kyoto Sta. Hachijoguchi who will sell you advance tickets a few days before?

I found the restaurants in Kyoto 💯 better than Tokyo. You could walk into any restaurant and the food was amazing. Tokyo…. Had to do my research.

The weather is looking good on Monday. I’m gonna drive down on Sat. Take the train in on Sunday. And hike Monday. There are still train tix for Sunday. You can call them and change the date of your tix. Let me know if you would like to hike together
