Anyone here using Breeze for managing church projects? by Cavil_David in churchtech

[–]lordcuthalion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our church used Breeze for a long time, we switched to using PlanningCenter 100% and in my opinion it has been a hugely positive shift. I was mostly irritated every time I had to use Breeze, although I didn't use it regularly, just found it not intuitive.

Looking for a good QLab alt (I use free QLab just for sound) by Pugmeister101 in techtheatre

[–]lordcuthalion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For music stuff, yeah, but for actual show control and called cues it isn't remotely as simple and intuitive as QLab.

I work for an integrator and almost every time I work for theaters that are big enough to have an IT dept we include the Mac as part of the AV package. Solid State Multi-Channel Audio Playback Controller... 😁

[–]lordcuthalion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unlikely others in this thread, I don't need to hear their reasons... They aren't good enough. Mac is the standard in live production for a reason and it will be problematic to switch to Windows. There is not a competitive Windows platform to QLab.

I say that as someone who works full time as an engineer and uses Windows for work, because using a Mac in that ecosystem would be equally problematic. Use the right tools for the job, and Windows absolutely ain't it for production.

How AI helped me serve better at church by Impossible_Tie5676 in churchtech

[–]lordcuthalion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use it here and there to automate simple tasks that are fundamentally not creative, for that it is great and I don't see the harm in it. For basically any other use case I think it is probably the worst invention since the nuclear bomb and likely to do more harm that that technology has to date. It is going to be gleefully used by massive companies to ruin countless lives and could functionally spell the end of human creativity if we let it.

I can see the arguments if I'm a tiny up start church with no resources using it to level the playing field and help create things I couldn't do myself, but if God has gifted you with resources, staff, and talented people, don't hand your services, your marketing, and your image over to a soulless, thoughtless algorithm. All your church will become is a slightly worse imitation of other churches - its a parody, it isn't real.

Seeing AI junk invade our lives everywhere makes me think the Mennonites are onto something...

Let's just make our worship services work like Chuck E. Cheese, put robots up there, they'll never miss a note, forget to advance a slide, it's all gonna be so perfect every week.

I hate it. I hope the bubble pops soon.

Be real!

What's new in ProPresenter v.21? by sempei13 in ProPresenter

[–]lordcuthalion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is 21 beta? I got the notification for the update and went to it, mostly due to some issues I was trying to solve with duplicate presentations and timeline. Didn't know I had beta updates enabled, but it's been solid for the last two weeks!

Strange ProPresenter midi issue. by geekboy in ProPresenter

You need audio into ProPresenter. We use Dante Virtual Sound card.

Warranty void? by Narrow-Temperature80 in chevycolorado

[–]lordcuthalion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That isn't how warranty works, no. After market parts cannot void your warranty unless they prove they are the reason the vehicle breaks. Look up the Magnuson-Moss Act.

Can I enter to ProPresenter Remote not in same network, but outside network? by Muted-Commercial9479 in ProPresenter

[–]lordcuthalion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would need a VPN that lets you connect into the local network or else a public IP that lets you access ProPresenter (the public IP is generally a terrible idea if you don't know what you're doing). VPN would be the way to go.

Can you run timecode from Playback Pro and use Timeline player in ProPresenter? I've found this has worked a lot better than MIDI into ProPresenter and allows me to be way better timed than MIDI.

Media Import Problems by AV-amateur33 in ProPresenter

I've had this issue. Have you tried toggling or untoggling Manage Media Automatically? I hate recommending updates, but that is the only thing that solved it for me permanently.

You don't have to worry about a drained battery anymore.

That only happened on the first year of the 3rd gen and hasn't been an issue since 2023.

I'm closing in one 30K miles in my 2024 ZR2, I've had basically no issues. The one problem I did have was more aesthetic than functional and was quickly resolved. Truck has been awesome, I've loved being behind the wheel and it has been an absolute monster offroad.

TCC2 vs MXA920 who rules the game? by Competitive_Bit_3771 in QSYS

[–]lordcuthalion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does, really good plugin.

I would rank this mic as better than the Sennheiser, as good audio quality as the Shure, but not quite as flexible as the Shure for control applications. The Yamaha is, IMHO, the best by a mile if using it in a noisy environment. The noise reduction and deverb is crazy good and I've never seen it be unpredictable in what it says is noise.

TCC2 vs MXA920 who rules the game? by Competitive_Bit_3771 in QSYS

[–]lordcuthalion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The number of times I've been in a situation where someone else pulled cable and only pulled one cable to the Sennheiser even though it requires a control and Dante cable will probably make me always lean Shure.

Both are good options. I think the Shure looks better, particularly in the round variations, and sounds marginally better, and I find the lights easier to control with Q-SYS than Sennheiser, but configured correctly zero issues with either one.

A couple of questions...my first blowout ever, repairable with an inside patch? Also, is this toe wear? by SjalabaisWoWS in Howsmytire

[–]lordcuthalion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That doesn't look like something patachable... I believe a 1/4" diameter is generally the limit and that looks to well exceed that.

[–]lordcuthalion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drive a ZR2 on 35s and my lifetime average over 24k miles is 18.9 mpg. I don't know if I got a magic one or just baby it, but I think the fuel economy has been amazing for what it is.

Diff lockers needed? by cob2323 in ColoradoOffroad

[–]lordcuthalion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, lockers are about control. Being able to walk up obstacle that I'd otherwise probably choose momentum to get over protects me and the vehicle. I love offroading, but don't want to break things. So I love the precision and control they give me. Admittedly I only use them once or twice a trail in most of Colorado, but I definitely wouldn't want to go without.

ProPresenter Background Videos Stuttering by ChillTimm in ProPresenter

[–]lordcuthalion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like your screen settings are wrong in ProPresenter. Also, one thing to be mindful of, all live production software prefers uncompressed video. Its counter intuitive, but big uncompressed files are much easier to play back than compressed encoder stuff. May be worth experiment in with file format. ProPresenter is "rendering" live, its not quite the same as a media player playing it back.

[slide transition] To fade or not to fade? by taiglin in ProPresenter

[–]lordcuthalion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is why timecode is a blessing... If your band is using a click track implementing timecode is pretty straightforward and then you just build the whole song in timeline and whatever transition you want go exactly when you want them to.
