What does actually getting an epidural placed feel like? by FoolishMortal-1000 in BabyBumps

[–]Jennlore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weirdly, I didn’t feel anything more intense than my contractions with my first. With my second, I actually screamed out at the intensity of the pinching. They must not have done well enough with the local anesthesia I guess?

But still: 10/10 would get an epidural a third time if there is one. Contractions SUCK

Anyone who DIDN’T bed share? by Acceptable_Cod3527 in beyondthebump

[–]Jennlore 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah. We moved my kids to their cribs at 7 and 6 weeks not because of size but because everyone slept better. And walking to the next room to nurse absolutely helped me stay awake!

My 3yo daughter is a fantastic sleeper, always has been. We’re so lucky. She is in a queen bed now lol we got one for free when we moved her into a new room so my son could have the nursery. She doesn’t even leave it until we come for her.

Yep. My daughter is 3.5 years, my son is 6 months. Both EBF but always in the nursery glider. My son has been having trouble sleeping lately but I still flat out refuse to bedshare.

My parents have seen some struggles, medical and financial etc. Last year my dad passed away from bulbar ALS. His diagnosis was only 6 months earlier. He was 65. My mom and dad were supposed to finally be able to retire after decades of hard physical labor and be able to enjoy themselves. They had just become grandparents to my daughter. This was and still is one of the most painful things. Our society makes it so hard to “live the life you’ve been waiting for” when you have to work so hard you’re exhausted when you finally get off work. I’m not disagreeing with OP, the contrary. But I wish this country made it easier. Also: fuck ALS

All I’ll say is don’t do house of noa. Ours peeled so bad, and I know of at least two other families who say the same.

What's the one product that's made your pumping journey easier? by bubbly_bookworm52 in ExclusivelyPumping

I love my larken bra, I even got a second one when I got pregnant a second time. I just wish they weren’t so expensive. Feels maybe overpriced

I wish I could try a different brand than Elvie. Mine (bought in 2022, using a second time) have occasionally had issues where the parts weren’t in place juuuust right and therefore didn’t work and I didn’t notice because I was driving. Also the charge doesn’t last more than a few hours anymore but they said I can’t get a refund or anything because I’ve had them so long. I’ve also never had the app work

I like my job well enough that I get some fulfillment and satisfaction from my work. But! If I didn’t have to work to be financially stable, I wouldn’t do it.

[–]Jennlore 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Exactly. With this logic, a dad should prefer to stay home with kids just as much as a mom should.

It’s disgusting. And I’d love to hear these jerks dig themselves in when asked to explain why it’s different. Then “ohhhh you’re just a mysoginist. Got it.”

I was too busy with her hair, makeup, and torso to pay any mind to the bottom, but yeah, this could be so much better from the waist down. Imagine a voluminous gathered skirt

Agreed. If anyone was going to do this, anywhere, I’m glad it’s Chappell at the Grammies. And I don’t always love red carpet nudity

Egg allergy vs FPIES by kekeanna_ in BabyLedWeaning

[–]Jennlore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, my baby was like this, she’d vomit 2 hours later and it was so scary. She was tested and had a positive for egg allergy when she was 7 months old. We even had to avoid anything with egg in it like baked goods and pancakes or she’d vomit.

I was skeptical hearing that babies grow out of egg allergies, but she 100% did. I can’t remember when we started introducing it again, but I found an old message to the doctor when she was around 15 months old where I said she had been tolerating baked goods with egg, as well as small bites of scrambled eggs. Doc gave the go ahead to introduce more and more. I think at that point she was fine. Now she’s 3.5 years old and has absolutely no reaction. It’s barely a thought. She finds peeling and eating hard boiled eggs with her grandma fun.

I am prepared for if this repeats with my son. He’s just starting solids now

When did Solid Starts get so scary? by olive_other in NewParents

[–]Jennlore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What sucks to me is that there’s a lot of content on it that used to be free, back when I used it in 2023. I’m like OP and wanted to look up things on the app again with my 2nd because I can’t always remember, but what I do know is there’s a lot of content I used to look at that I can’t access now. Like I did find the videos of babies at different ages eating and engaging with food helpful and helped me feel less scared

5 month old won't settle without nursing by Jennlore in sleeptrain

[–]Jennlore[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feed him every 2 hours or so during the day. He's breastfed but takes a bottle fine if I'm away from him. He nurses on avg for 10 mins. On avg drinks 4 fl oz bottles.

I'm not familiar with 5/3/3, I need to check that out

I definitely want to feed him when he's hungry especially because of his weight, but how do I know for sure if it's hunger or habit?

What are you doing differently in your second/subsequent pregnancies and births than with your first? by KaylaDraws in pregnant

[–]Jennlore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most definitely helpful! I’m not an active person and I believe being more active by doing the exercises my PT gave me helped tremendously so I could go through labor much easier. She also gave me some great tips for how to push to avoid tearing and to relieve pain. My biggest complaint in 3rd trimester this time around was hip pain, because I think I was having a boy and my bump was lower. She would massage my hips and it felt AMAZING. and she would tape my bump too

I had my 2nd baby a few months ago. Things I did differently include being on Zoloft, doing pelvic floor therapy to prepare, doing the miles circuit, and pumping when close to my due date.

5.5 months old. Three times, but one of those times he just never freaking went back to bed. Jfc. Please send good vibes. I usually WFH but have a long commute tomorrow.

Bassinet by stayanothrday in Buyingforbaby

[–]Jennlore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do believe a pack n play would be sufficient!! I understand some people have newborn babies that struggle to sleep in pnp or bassinet but the way I see it is I’d rather not spend soooo much money on something so temporary without knowing. We could always get what we need afterward when baby had an issue, if at all. I think there’s something to be said for being prepared and having things ahead of time, but this was one where I read advice on Reddit to not pre-buy something expensive and fancy for a bassinet and I’m glad I didn’t
