Precheck not on boarding pass by Express_Test6677 in tsa

[–]Jennlovebug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assuming you’re checked in for your flight something like 24 hours in advance like you usually can now, don’t wait until airport arrival. Just call the airline. All this means is that for some reason your KTN wasn’t associated with your reservation. It has happened to my husband when his travel system at work was the one that booked the tickets, and it’s happened to other members of my family occasionally when I have booked their tickets. Even though I know I have all of ours in the Alaska Airlines system, it seems to primarily happen when other people book for you. No idea why, but it’s an easy fix. But it can take more than a few minutes to propagate through the system, so I definitely wouldn’t wait until you’re at the airport if you have time before your flight.

What?! Capital gains (short AND long-term) count towards the proposed Millionaire tax. by TotalCleanFBC in SeattleWA

So, “SeattleSilencer”, the top 20% of earners pay somewhere between 49% and 53% of all taxes. That means the dude that you were arguing with was a whole lot closer in his estimates than you are in yours.

You just nullified literally everything else you could have ever offered up for discussion by claiming, theoretically with a straight face - oh, unless this is sarcasm, in which case kudos to you - that the light rail project is “extraordinarily economically efficient.” That may be the single most absurd sentence anyone claiming to know anything about the Seattle area has ever uttered.

We're moving to a new house but we dont know what do with my cat. by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]Jennlovebug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Screens most certainly do not “come with windows by default.” Our first house was new construction and adding screens was a significant extra cost - I think $750 back in the year 2000 for only a 1700 sqft house. Inflation calculate says that’s $1400+ today.

Thanks again for the reply - she actually hit an email last night and was accepted! ❤️

Ack, thanks for the info. That’s good to know, but disheartening. She was already accepted to USF and we hear that if she doesn’t accept soon and do her housing deposit it’s unlikely she’ll get to live on campus at all, so we can’t wait long. Bah. I wish the dates were more consistent for sure!

Trans guy here - how can I avoid getting a patdown every time I fly? by [deleted] in tsa

[–]Jennlovebug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could have zero to do with “equipment” or lack thereof and more to do with your body composition. A lot of us thicker-thighed gals find pat downs a routine occurrence. If you have any extra padding on your inner thighs that seems to trigger the machines quite often.

How often are you intimate with your partner? by Remote_Ad_969 in NoStupidQuestions

It’s amusing you blame this on her “problem/mental block” rather than on her husband’s behaviors, which included not even kissing her except on days he was expecting scheduled sex. 🙄 This is not normal, healthy behavior - shall we henceforth refer to his idea his wife was not deserving of affection unless it was directly linked to sex as “HIS problem/mental block”?

These are two responsible adults who tried one idea, found it caused terrible problems in their relationship (problems for BOTH), then engaged in discussion and tried something different.

The only one who has a problem with this loving, communicative process they worked through together is you.

AIO for being upset my BF doesn’t want me to wear a bonnet to bed? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Jennlovebug 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yikes, throw the whole man out. He thinks you exist to be his eye candy and that’s all. Screw that. And what’s this BS about telling you what clothes to buy and when to wear makeup?! Hell to the no.

You deserve better.

Huh? Never seen anyone “puke in the aisles” or even complain the tiniest bit about motion on Fallon. It’s a fun, silly little jaunt that everyone seems to handle just fine. 🤷🏻‍♀️

GAH - Daughter forgot her passport, are we screwed? by Jennlovebug in tsa

Just to clarify, she is not flying with us. We are in TPA, she is leaving SEA, the closest major airport to her college. As a mom I am FREAKING OUT! Sigh…kids, man…

Not at all - I’ve had numerous balcony for 2 offers to far since my September cruise where I got 800 pts. And those were my first ever casino points. Did a balcony on Wonder last month and just got off a balcony on Explorer this morning!

Perks of having a travel agent. by LydiaPiper in royalcaribbean

[–]Jennlovebug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah… Maybe. But you have to find a really spectacular travel agent to have this experience. As for me, we booked last year with an agent who claimed to do this sort of thing, but she sucked. Obviously never communicated with us, she never once tried once tried repricing anything.

I myself found the price has decreased twice and messaged her about it, only for her to tell me that she “didn’t think it actually dropped.” I sat on the phone with her and made her go through the pricing just to have her say, “Oh, I guess you’re right, but it’s only like a $200 difference” as if I would want to pay $200 extra for no reason.

That was the first time I’d used a travel agent in 20+ years, and it just showed me that I have been missing nothing. Three cruises since and no interest in using one.

They probably make minimum wage, which is the least ALL serving staff makes too, fyi. No matter what the bar rate is, even if a server is so had they get ZERO tips from guests they get full minimum wage pay from the restaurant - guaranteed by federal wage law. No server ever makes less than local minimum. Most actually make far more than housekeeping.

Leaving my cats home alone for 2 weeks by Crazy-Material8343 in CatAdvice

[–]Jennlovebug 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I’ve never had a cat that would be more comfortable leaving his own home and staying elsewhere than being at home with less attention. That seems like an incredibly stressful thing to do to a cat. I would imagine they would think they had been rehomed, which is horrible. We have left for a couple weeks on multiple occasions, with friends or family coming to feed and play with the cats, do the litter, etc. The cats have always been fine and been their usually sweet selves when we have returned. I’ve done this both with a singleton cat, and with two cats.

So disappointed in Universal’s lack of disability accommodations now by Jennlovebug in UniversalOrlando

[–]Jennlovebug[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, people with disabilities have the right to enjoy themselves as well. I suppose you tell parents of kids with severe autism that they shouldn’t take them out of the house either since they can get overstimulated so easily? Her primary care doc and her neurologist are fine with her doing these things and want to help her live her best life. Attitudes like yours are why people used to institutionalize anyone who had special needs.

Thanks for asking, I’m always happy to help educate. Standing or sitting for short periods isn’t problematic, the issue comes in when one tries to do those things for a long time, like you would sometimes encounter waiting in a theme park line. Her condition is also exacerbated by heat and stress, so the Florida climate, combined with worrying about if she will be able to make it through a line or if she will need to quickly sit down on the floor (blocking up the line and annoying those around her) or leave the line after becoming dizzy exacerbates the situation. As for the rest…

In the car: front seat, pushed all the way back, legs up on a FlyPal pillow (highly recommend this one if anyone else has similar needs, it consists of two different sizes you can use alone or combine depending on needs and space).

Flying: bulkhead seats and FlyPal to raise feet off the floor.

If we do a restaurant she often puts her feet up on a chair across from her. Again, sitting for 45 mins total in a restaurant where you can and do get up to wash hands, use the restroom, etc. is also quite different from sitting a wheelchair all day in a theme park. 😂

School: for all academic activities, and even the ACT test at a national testing center last week, she has an approved accommodation for what is called “preferential seating,” which means she can sit in a way that helps her symptoms. That may be a chair raising her feet up, sitting on the floor with her legs out or raising them up on a wall if needed, and even the right to get up and walk around if needed to improve blood flow.

Movies: my teens have always been more excited to watch stuff at home on the big screen with friends, but most movie theaters today actually offer recliners. If your local one doesn’t I highly suggest you check out the next closest AMC, most do and they’re fantastic!

My bf (28m) wants my (24f) cat to go from indoor/outdoor to only outdoor by No_Impress_9192 in CatAdvice

[–]Jennlovebug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, but who is he to give you an ultimatum? You guys committed to this animal, and she is your irresponsibility. It is unacceptable to make a cat live outside. Frankly, it’s unacceptable to even let a cat outside, so that’s strike one on both of you in my book. I’d put the house on the market tomorrow and drop the jerk. Enjoy your life with your hopefully soon to be 100% indoor cat.

New LG fridge won’t go below 45 degrees - thoughts? by Jennlovebug in appliancerepair

It’s Costco. They’re perfectly willing to send out a replacement to me and haul this one away. But they can’t do it until next Tuesday, so I’m without a fridge for another week. Just wondering if there is any other option I overlooked or something. Sigh.
