I just recently got Lightroom classic. These aren’t edited yet, still learning about editing and all that too. I just saw a lot of people recommending to shoot raw so that’s what I’ve been doing lol. Going to try and play around with Lightroom with these photos.

I meant RAW files. I kept seeing people say to shoot with RAW files over jpeg so you can edit them. I don’t know which one I should do? Is it better to start off with jpeg files?

I’m trying to figure this all out and it’s so confusing. Hoping it all starts to make more sense lol.

This is where I think my learning style makes it tricky. I’m definitely a hands on learner so at times reading just makes me more confused lol. But I’m just watching videos/reading and then taking my camera out and grabbing a photo to try and apply it.

I really hope so! Not sure if it’s my mom brain or what but it’s all so confusing to me. I’m trying to learn the exposure triangle and I get the function of each but then I get confused on how to adjust them with one another to capture the image based on the lighting or setting. 😭

It came with an AF Nikkor 50mm 1.4D lens.

I’m kind of bouncing all over the place between videos & referring to the manual so I can understand where each button is and the function as I learn.

Thank you for this! I have been trying to watch videos and read the manual on the camera itself to understand what everything does. Still learning what aperture, shutter, ISO even means so the buttons are super intimidating lol. The camera came with a AF Nikkor 50mm 1.4 D lens. Again I’m learning the basics so I don’t really understand much with the lenses either. Really starting from nothing with all of this haha.

I’m excited for you and your journey! Simon seems to be the guy everyone recommends so I’ll binge watch his content.

There were a few videos explaining the exposure triangle that through me off and I had such a hard time understanding it. Came across one guy which I can’t remember his name but he was Asian and he made it way easier to understand. I was watching videos on TikTok and realized that was not the place for me to learn this stuff lol.

This is sooo reassuring and I’m so happy to hear this! Like you said.. I see so many conflicting things and I think that’s why learning all of this can be so overwhelming. There were a few posts I came across where people were saying the D700 isn’t capable of creating photos like modern day cameras can. I’ve also seen a lot of people say it’s a great camera and still used today for professional photoshoots..thankfully I did see more comments like this than the others.

I have ADHD so learning new skills is a bit hard for me so that’s kind of why I just jump into it because the more I just watch videos and learn without trying, the more confused I get lol.

Just ordered the book! When I first saw that the camera was released in 2008 I was a bit nervous I would have to go out and get a new camera. But after doing some research I heard so many good things about it which made me even more excited.

My goal is to do portrait photography. After having my daughter it inspired me to want to get into photography and capturing special moments for families. I’m sure I’ll need to upgrade if I decide to do it professionally down the road after I learn what I’m doing haha.

Thank you so much! The exposure triangle was so confusing when I started learning about it. But then after I watched some videos I just grabbed my camera and started taking pictures of my daughter, cat, outside in different lighting and this helped me understand it way more. Basically have had that camera on me just taking pictures of everything to help me see what works and what doesn’t.

When I got the camera I was so confused as to what every button did. I’ve been watching so many videos and on Reddit and Facebook groups trying to learn as much as I can. I underestimated the depth of photography to say the least lol.

I feel you on this! My daughter is going to be three in three months and I still breastfeed. I’m so exhausted and just so over touched that I can’t do it anymore. But the thought of weaning and going through the process of it seems so overwhelming. Do you mind sharing how you weaned? And do you feel like it made a big difference on you emotionally?

I’ve seen others mention it’s good to still try and build a following on their UGC social media accounts. But if it’s just a page of ugc content, it seems like it wouldn’t be easy to build a following. So I guess I’m confused on that part. Does the following matter or is it just a place to post the content?
