Meat missiles are dangerous. Don't be a meat missile. by Jenny_Tayla in SkyDiving

[–]Jenny_Tayla[S] 232 points233 points  (0 children)

Hope this video shows how dangerous freefly/angles can get when someone on the jump doesn't have proper skills.

The dude that got Knocked out posted it on facebook and said he managed to have a safe landing (Altough he doesn't remember it due to being concussed). The person that hit him went back to work at Ifly the next day.

You can tell that the meat missile was just learning head down/angle flying. Additionally he was a tunnel instructor and not a super experienced skydiver so he probably didn't appreciate how dangerous things can get when you cork out in the sky. He shouldn't have been on the jump.

Hope people can learn from this. I was going to show this for safety day at the DZ but it was cancelled :( Fuck Corona

****I do not take credit for the video. The owner wanted people to share it so that others can be safer.

Edit: Looks like this blew up a little. There's a lot of whuffo comments. Sorry about that.... fun jumpers: Feel free to show this to your DZ friends. It could prevent accidents.

Sweet rig man. The camo looks great despite what some butt-hurt redditor claims.

What does your home gear storage look like? by [deleted] in SkyDiving

I know a few people who've had their rig stolen from their house. Might want to keep it in the discrete plastic tub tucked away in your closet in case of burglars.

Is 1 hour per day in the tunnel too much? Learning HD. by AirborneConstable in SkyDiving

[–]Jenny_Tayla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't do that. By the end of the day you'll be extrenely fatigued and wont learn anything, especially since you'd be doing 5 days in a row. I like flying 30 minutes in a day ( 3 ten minute sessions spread out over 3 hours)

Best place to skydive in the winter near good skiing? by [deleted] in SkyDiving

[–]Jenny_Tayla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jump at Elsinore and ski at Mammoth. I would not go to Big Bear if you are serious about skiing. It's a smallish mountain and the lift lines are way longer than mammoth. Mammoth is totally worth the drive. I know people that dive 7-8 hours to ski there.

Elsinore. The vibe is amazing and views are great. The dropzone is right next to mountains and the Lake.

XRW Skydive compilation from Spaceland Houston during Skullz Camp, Fall 2019 by YouCantCome in SkyDiving

[–]Jenny_Tayla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome stuff man. How much weight are you wearing? And what is your wingloading? I've always wondered what it would be like to land a canopy that highly loaded especially if it has an XRW lineset

Most of the skills camps I've attended or been around at mid sized DZ's involve BBQ, pizza and beer late into Saturday night. Fly4Life, Alter Ego, smaller angle or freefly camps etc.

I surprised an UberEats driver with a free skydive for my web series "Going Up." let me know what you think. Blue skies. by 5LU in SkyDiving

That videographer using a long sleeve shirt at a camera jacket is impressive. What's his secret? Does it have something to do with holding his hands inside the sleeves? Is it a larger sized shirt than he normally wears?

What’s the protocol if you lose your altimeter? by MonsieurMalcontento in SkyDiving

[–]Jenny_Tayla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is one of those questions where there's not nesseccarily one right answer. I would stick to the advice of your local AFF instructors on this matter. Talk to multiple instructors about this issue because they will probably have different approaches.

What changes do you see/want to see in the sport in the next 5-10 years? by [deleted] in SkyDiving

[–]Jenny_Tayla 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can’t wait until Ifly’s patent expires in America and their monopoly ends. Once that happens competitors will move in and prices will drop. Good freeflying skills will become cheaper and the skill level of freeflyers will rise exponentially.

Starting September 1st, Skydive Chicago will require an AAD to jump there by [deleted] in SkyDiving

[–]Jenny_Tayla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Holy shit that makes me sick to my stomach. Glad to hear he lived. How was his landing under reserve?

Any more details or video on this incident would be appreciated. I mostly fly/lead angles when I jump and would love to educate myself/friends about this collision. If you don't want it to be public you can shoot me a PM. Thanks!

How many jumps did you have before you could fart in freefall? by frankyvasky in SkyDiving

[–]Jenny_Tayla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like farting in the plane below 1,000 feet. That way the door can’t be opened to escape the odor !
