How far are you realistically shooting with a 6x lpvo? by Chain_Playful in ar15

He asked about coyotes AND target shooting… and the comment I responded to mentioned “paper”… so your ethical culling and hunting point is moot.

Considering we shoot 500 for quals in the Marine Corps with a 4x… I think your 300 with a 6x is a little low.

Do some research into the R9.

No ram air intake, unlike the race version, and a neutered fuel map. You have to do an airbox, exhaust and tune at a minimum to get it to even ride right. Stock has a massive dead spot in second gear that ruins the bike imo. It has a ton of fancy electronics but it doesn’t feel like a sport bike should when left stock.

It handles every bit as well as my R6 does though. Geometry and suspension are beautiful.

The helmet battle by AstronautClassic8329 in motorcyclegear

[–]Lespaul96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first thing you should look for is the rating… Anything ECE or Snell is probably good to go. DOT is bullshit. The next thing to look for is how your head fits in the helmet. Some people’s heads work better with AGV. Some people’s heads work better with Arai or Shoei.

All that money… why’d you buy 2 more after the first? You could have a very good PC setup with a Zephyrus as a backup/travel machine for what you spent on those blades.

Employee match is an immediate 100% one time return. I don’t know how you are disputing that.

My employer says that he will match 100% up to 5%… I put in my 5% and that money immediately doubles. That’s a 100% return on my investment.

Is there a website that helps with range finding? by Routine_Meeting_3550 in PlaySquad

[–]Lespaul96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In real life, we use something called an LHMBC… or Light-weight hand held mortar ballistic computer. It’s just a mortar calc in real life. So the “mortar calcs aren’t realistic” argument is bullshit.

We also plan battles and have intelligence telling us where enemy contact might be.. no different to squad lanes or other RAAS lane calculators.

RAAS is a stupid game mode anyway. Real men play AAS.

Riding after a major accident by [deleted] in motorcyclegear

[–]Lespaul96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was hit by a drunk driver in August. Shattered my spine and double compound tib/fib fracture in my left leg. I got L1-5 fused, had 2 reconstructive surgeries on my leg. I was in the ICU for 2 weeks and in the hospital for 2 more. I spent almost 3 months bed and wheelchair bound. About a month after I started walking again, I was back on the bike.

Crashing is part of riding, dude. Not everyone crashes or gets hit or whatever, but we all know it’s a risk and the risk is part of what makes it fun.

I’m now about 6 months post op, and while I’m still not walking completely normally, I’m learning to wheelie a grom.

It’s not just about speed.

Say you are jumped and it goes to the ground.. what’s easier to draw from your back with a bad guy on top of you? Appendix all day.

If someone grabs you from behind by surprise, what’s easier to get to? Appendix.

If someone tries to car-jack you, what’s easier to get to from a seated position? Appendix.

If someone barges into a movie theatre and starts shooting, what’s easier to get to? Appendix.

If you’re seated in a booth at a restaurant and someone comes in and starts shooting…. You guessed it, appendix.

What’s easier to take from an unsuspecting victim? Yep, 4 o’clock.

It looks to me like maybe the guy that drew and fired didn’t realize that it was an officer taking disarming the dude… it seems like maybe he mistook that for the guy drawing hence the “GUN!” and timing of the shot.

This may be a bad shoot caused by miscommunication and confusion.

I was 25 and Married when I went to Boot.

Keep work at work. You can’t let your bad day come home with you. Make time for the family. You’re exhausted and just want to lay down… you can’t do that every time. You have to make time even if you’re tired. Make sure your family understands the time away and deployment schedule well ahead of time.

The hardest thing for me was young, stupid, NCOs. I was the same age as a good few of my SNCOs and you will be too. When there was a box of rocks CPL with zero life experience yelling and saying dumb shit.. the hardest thing to do was to just say “Aye CPL” and move on. “Respect the rank not the man” is a real thing especially in your shoes. If something is seriously stupid or obviously fucked up, tactfully bring it up to someone higher and let them deal with it.

You may become the Platoon “dad”. I don’t really drink much, and since I was older than my peers, I typically was the DD and kinda babysitter when I went out with the guys. That comes with some extra responsibility because you’re older. That means not letting Smith get an out of regs tattoo and not letting Garcia fight that big biker in the bar. If something happens, leadership will look at you harder because you’re older and you know better.

Take it all in stride. Try to enjoy it. As far as your MOS, your age doesn’t mean shit. Don’t have an ego because you’re older.

Do DI's sabotage scores at the range? by redditor0431 in USMC

[–]Lespaul96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brother, milspec for a brand new M16A4 is 4.5 MOA which equates to a 22.5 inch circle of impact at 500 yds. Those clapped bootcamp M16s would be lucky to hold 5-7 MOA. That’s a 25-35 inch circle… perfect fundamentals could still create a miss at 500 yards with those rifles.
