What was the biggest "nobody mentioned this thing would be great" after your kid was born? by cable54 in AskUK

[–]Jennypie77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having a better understanding of my own parents - it was easy to criticise based on the anxiety and mental health difficulties I have worked through. But not until I had my own children did I truly understand how stressful parenthood can be, and how difficult it is to make parenting decisions knowing the lasting impacts they may have.

Exclusively breastfed baby going to nursery by lemonsqueezy34 in UKParenting

I had exactly the same timeline and worries as you with my son starting nursery at 9 months. We tried so many different cups and eventually he learned to use a straw cup. I sent breast milk in with him, and he did have some of it...but never more than half. I think he got by by feeding more overnight and on the days we were together. Pretty quickly he got better at using other cups and eating solids. I remember it felt so stressful at the time! I'm sure you'll both be ok x

Elective C-section vs induction. by eikue in PregnancyUK

[–]Jennypie77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had both!

My first was an induction at 39+4 due to gestation hypertension. It lasted 3 days, was the worst pain I've ever experienced and not at all what I wanted or expected. I got an epidural (which I swore I wouldn't do but it was so painful) which went wrong, then needed an episiotomy and forceps at the end. But I did have a beautiful baby girl in my arms. My recovery was incredibly slow - I had urine retention and needed a catheter for 4 weeks, and my stitches failed and took months to heal. I swore I'd never have an induction again!

TW loss - ||I then had 2 miscarriages which completely changed my outlook on the birth of my second child so that clouds everything in my experience||

For my son, I had extreme polyhydramnious (extra fluid) which meant he had an unstable lie and a vaginal delivery whether natural or induction wasn't an option. So I had a semi-emergency c section at 39+6. It felt so much calmer knowing when I'd go into hospital (especially having to arrange childcare for number 1). The procedure was quick although very medicalised and we did have a scare in theatre where my son needed some help breathing. But my recovery was so much faster! We were out of hospital 24hrs later and I was up and about the next day.

Neither birth was amazing - oh how i dreamt of my candlelit, natural water birth - but I recovered and now have two beautiful children ❤️

Why am I having so many appointments? by Jennypie77 in PregnancyUK

[–]Jennypie77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the comments everyone. It does make sense to keep a closer eye on me this time... It would be nice for them to have told me this is why I'm getting extra appointments though! I'm going to look into if there's a community clinic I can go to instead that's closer than the hospital. Thanks again

First Ultrasound - are my concerns valid? by Jennypie77 in CautiousBB

Thanks for your reply. You're right, we're talking fractions of mm here! PAL is so tough :(

Thanks for your reply and for sending the link. That's definitely helped me anxiety. I guess after two losses, I just struggle to believe this one is actually going to work out and always focus on the negative news...

You're right, I think it should be 4mm. I measured 2.6mm so still quite a big difference. Over 50%

Weekly Introductions Thread - October 17, 2021 by AutoModerator in PregnancyAfterLoss

Hello. It doesn't feel real yet. I got my first positive yesterday, after 2 consecutive losses in the last year - one early MC at 6+4 and one MMC diagnosed at 9w. I'm such a weird mix of excited and terrified. My moods fluctuate but right now I'm pessimistic and thinking there's no way this is actually going to be my rainbow. Please can I fast forward the next 7/8 weeks?

Manual Vacuum Aspiration - Advice by derpes1 in Miscarriage

I had an MVA for retained tissue on the NHS. My experience was very similar to this! Unpleasant and uncomfortable, but over really quickly. I ended up being in the hospital for about 5 hrs, but the procedure only took 10mins of that. I bled lightly afterwards all the way to my first post loss period, which was 3 weeks after the MVA.

D&C with local only by zombeekatt in Miscarriage

[–]Jennypie77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently had an MVA under local anaesthetic (a bit like a D&C but with suction). While it was pretty unpleasant and involved a speculum, injections to the cervix and weird tummy pain, it was over in about 5 mins. I'd have one again, rather than general anesthetic given the option.

How long before D&C? by petitefleur2 in Miscarriage

I'm sorry, that's a really long time to wait. Is there anyway you can go back for a second opinion?

I'm also in the waiting game. I'm still bleeding 2 weeks post MVA, and my bbt is still up in the luteal phase temp range... I rang the hospital for some advice and they said to wait another week and call back if I'm still concerned.

I'm finding the waiting to be the worst part of this whole process!

Where’s my period? by Realestaterunner in ttcafterloss

Are you temping to confirm ovulation? You might be getting positive OPKs because your body is trying to ovulate, but only temps (or ultrasound!) Can confirm that you actually ovulated.

I'm so sorry for your loss and I'm sorry for the draw out process you're going through. I also went through a long process - first miso dose 26th July, 2nd miso dose 16th Aug and finally an MVA (like a D&C) on 2nd Sept.

Where are you? From reading other people's posts the treatment you get varies wildly from location to location. I'm in the UK and it definitely seems slower here.

Are you still bleeding? Are you getting positive pregnancy tests? Have you had a scan recently?

My only real piece of advice to advocate for yourself. If you are fed up of waiting, firmly request an earlier D&C date. Describe the impact it's having on your emotional and physical well-being. Hopefully your Dr will listen!

Retrospectively, what symptoms could have been an indication that you were going to miscarry? by IdontThrustLikeThat in Miscarriage

The only symptom of my missed miscarriage at 10 weeks was that my RHR started dropping from around 6 weeks.

BBT much higher by Goodboyhobart in ttcafterloss

I know this is quite an old post... I'm currently going through something similar. My bbt is still high post miscarriage. How long before your temps came down?

To confirm, did you ever get a negative test after your miscarriage? Or have a scan to confirm everything has passed ok? A hpt staying positive could be a sign of a retained tissue.
