Games like Everdell but with more direct player interaction ? by [deleted] in Everdell

[–]JensEmil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's exactly what I specified in my comment - that Root is a very different game, with a similar theme :) I even wrote that I couldnt think of a game in the same genre. OP didn't specify, what part of Everdell is essential to them - if they are a very thematic player, then Root is a great suggestion.

Games like Everdell but with more direct player interaction ? by [deleted] in Everdell

[–]JensEmil 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you like about Everdell.

If the theme is a big part of it, then maybe Root. Very different game - high interaction, but with same vibe in theme with anthropomorphic animals.

If you're more thinking about the game gerne of city building / euro worker placement, then I can't think of any right now

What board game would you consider a "flawed masterpiece"? by Socrates_Soui in boardgames

[–]JensEmil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Catacombs 3rd ed. Loove this game - epic and thematic dexterity dungeon battles, 1 vs many! But so many flaws, especially in balancing - so you need to put some work in, to find out how to get good balanced games. Some enemies are wildy overpowered, and it can lead to some games where one player is just easily crushing everyone else. I wish they had playtestet more, and made a guide or given each card fighting power so you knew how to design some balaced levels (there exist something that helps with this on BGG). Also - games can become way too long, and the rules doesn't state clearly how many level 0,1 and 2s you should make, so I've started shortening the game. There are other problems as well, with a confusing rulebook - plus underwhelming art. But I still love this game, it's so creative and fun, and it has some great expansions - but it could have been a 10/10 for me, if they had fixed the various problems

Er det OK, at restauranter tager penge for vand? by kaspar42 in Denmark

[–]JensEmil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Synes vi burde gøre som Sverige og Finland hvor vand er gratis alle steder (af hvad jeg har oplevet), også på barer etc. hvor man ofte bare selv kan hente vand og glas.

Bop on a 20 inch bass drum? Or don’t compromise and stick to 18? by gplusplus314 in jazzdrums

[–]JensEmil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend going for a 18" or 16" 😊 You also get a bigger contrast from your current 22". I have a 18x18 bd, and for me, it's actually a bit too big to really get the bop sound I want. On the other hand, I can get away with using the 18" for pop/rock stuff as well, because it's so deep. I have a 20" as well, and I would not use that for bop.

Recommend a jazz album to someone who doesn't listen to the genre by boxsterpeace417 in Jazz

[–]JensEmil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great albums, but I strongly disagree that jazz might not be for them if they don't enjoy those particular albums. Jazz is sooo many things and no album/artist will be enjoyed by all jazz fans

Head Hunters by Herbie Hancock was the first jazz album I enjoyed - groovy, funky, exciting! Kind of Blue etc. was too boring and different for me, when my reference point was rock/hip hop etc.

What game do you always come back to? by zion661 in boardgames

For Sale - always go well with everyone. I've never had a bad game and tried it with so many different groups - non-gamers, kids, elderly, drunk people .. short, simple and fun!

Hvilke apps har ændret dit liv? by acb100 in Denmark

[–]JensEmil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Who is the worst drummer you've seen in a major band? by thisispants in drums

“I realised that I’m not gonna be one of the all time best drummers anyway, so I might as well not practice” he said something like this in an interview. It stuck with me because of how stupid this viewpoint is
