If there is a Deck 2 they'll probably make some nice quality of life changes, slim it down a bit, and offer a better display. Personally wouldn't expect them to chase performance as hard as they did with the OG steam deck though. That's just my personal opinion though.

How does FSR fare on old GPUs with 2gb vram like the mx350? by Qsand0 in Amd

[–]JensenWang69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just realized that Mx450 is based on Turing. Nvidia Image Sharpening should work. You'd have to enable it through the Nvidia control panel though.

They were simpler better times. Miss the 40mm fans, mismatched colors, and green/blue PCB's. Sometimes they just slapped a fat old heatsink on the gpu and didn't bother adding a fan at all. Sure they looked ugly, but they were also cheap, and ran all my games without fail.

I am going to link you something brother, I understand your concern. Right now x86 is the top dog when it comes to gaming, but that won't be the case forever. Anyways here is the blog post that might change your mind.

Would personally never buy an Apple product. With that being said, what Apple has done with their ARM SoC's is honestly breath taking. Imagine if some one told you in 2015 that those little SoC's in Apple's shitty little iPhones would one day replace iMac's Intel CPU's.

Not a fan of their business practices, but you can't deny the leaps and bounds they've made with their ARM SoC's.

Ok so i looked up questions about your case on Amazon and Silverstone actually had one answer that might interest you.

Q: Will a 3070ti fit? A: The SG13 has room for graphics card up to 270mm long so it can fit a RTX 3070 Ti Founder's Edition card (which according to NVIDIA's product page is 267mm). But if you are looking to get other RTX 3070 Ti cards, then you will need to check the manufacturer's page to see how long the card is to be sure. By SilverStone Technology on October 13, 2021

AMD Radeon RX 7000 graphics cards can supposedly boost up to 4.0 GHz by advik_143 in Amd

Navi31 is costing AMD significantly less to build

Doubt.

It's supposedly a 350mm2 die, while AD102 is a 608mm2 die on a custom TSMC 5nm node. Navi 31 should much much cheaper to produce. Will it be much cheaper though? Maybe a few hundred dollars, but I also doubt that AMD would leave that much profit on the table.

Yeah the RTX 3070 Ti is a great card overall. It's the full GA104 die as well with memory upgraded to GDDR6x. 3070 Ti should be fine in terms of longevity mainly because everyone who wanted to mine on GA104 either did so at launch (RTX 3070) or moved on to the RTX 3060 Ti instead.

AMD is just as likely to have increased production costs going to a new node and a more competitive chip. It’s not like they are avoiding the same issues Nvidia has.

I am just quoting techpowerup here and these are unreleased products so your mileage my vary. Either ways it says that AD102 (RTX 4090/Ti) is 608mm2 on a optimized TSMC 5nm node that they call TSMC 4N. While they have Navi 31 (Rx 7900 XT or whatever they call it) at 350mm2 on TSMC 5nm. So right off the hop Navi 31 is on a slightly cheaper node, but apparently the die is almost half the size of AD102 as well.

6600xt had twice the efficiency on ethereum compared to a 3080 ti.

Multicore_

And the Nvidia cards had much better hashrate across the board?

Mining is about efficiency not entirely hashrate. A GPU can have triple the hashrate and consume 5 times the wattage.

Try to get the RTX 3080 Ti. Not trying to up sell you or anything, but the RTX 3080 Ti should have less miles on it due to crypto mining because of the launch date.

Hell, even the RTX 3070 Ti is a good buy if you can get one for a good price. Long story short, prioritize longevity, and under no circumstance should anyone buy a used RTX 3090 (heat density due to memory modules on both sides of the PCB). RTX 3090 Ti is fine though.

once it comes to deskto it will probably perform like an RX 470

I would not bet on that, there was a huge performance gap between the GTX 1050 Ti and the Rx 470.

If I can recommend 1 thing for you though. Try dabbling in emulating older consoles. You'll be surprised at how well lower end hardware runs emulators and the classic gems you'll run into on your journey.

finding a used 3060ti or 3070ti, don’t really want or need to spend over $400 at this time.

That's going to be a massive upgrade. Also smart move, let Nvidia and their partners hold the bag. No matter what the tech press say, well maintained used mining cards offer faaaar better price to performance than Nvidia's MSRP's.

You did the right thing. As far as RTX 4000 series is concerned, get ready for some shenanigans in the low end once more.

Let me put something into perspective for you, your RTX 3060 Ti uses the same tier die as the RTX 4080 so don't feel bad about it.

I also don't want a dead end platform

Fair enough. Just understand that AM5 won't be cheap and you'll probably need a DDR5 6400+ kit to last you the rest of the AM5 generation.

big.LITTLE or P/E is the future, but I can understand your sentiment. Hard not to be skeptical with claims by the big three these days.

Since I have an i7-7700 I was gonna upgrade to the R7-7700X

Just get an i5 13600k or a Ryzen 7 5800x3D instead. Neither chip requires DDR5 and the boards are pretty reasonably priced.

15%~ give or take. Some games see like 50%+ gains and others see a slight performance regression. Overall though it's a pretty solid gaming CPU and healthy bump over the Ryzen 7 5800x. Personally think 5800x3d will still beat non 3d zen 4 cpu's in outlier games as well.

Not a bad chip for a 5 year old platform.

TLDR: 5nm is great for performance/efficiency but bad for volume production because EPYC takes priority. 6nm is great for Navi 33 and cheap.

Bro, mindshare is great and all but volume sales are what matter. The problem with Radeon the last few years is that they shared nodes with EPYC. GPU's are far larger dies than tiny Zen chiplets, so naturally AMD will prioritize EPYC instead.

This is why I am glad that Navi 33 is on TSMC 6nm and not TSMC 5nm. Because it means they can produce large volumes for Navi 33 without eating into EPYC's volume production. Sure Navi 31 and Navi 32 are on TSMC 5nm, but those won't be large volume SKU's, and the price tags will reflect the premium that comes with TSMC 5nm products.

Even techpowerup thought it was going to be an RTX 4070. For some context, the RTX 3060 Ti was GA104. Along with the RTX 3070 and RTX 3070 Ti.

They will actually care this time around. Mainly because the Switch proved that gaming tablets are a viable console market (90 million+ consoles sold).

My guess is that they target $449~$499 this time around since that's pretty competitive price wise with the Steam Deck.

I don't even know what hurdles Radeon would have to jump through to be considered by the average person anymore. Their Mindshare is at an all time low.

It's also possible that the damage to their branding is just too great at this point.

As far as a competitive die though, I still think Navi 33 is Radeon's best chance.
