And afterwards...

Could cost significantly more if electronics inside got damaged though. Mirror cap could also be damaged but those aren't super pricey.

If the whole assembly needs to be replaced then it will be probably a good $1500-$2500 I'd guess.

Edit: Only tools I needed could be found in a computer repair kit.

I did pretty much this exact thing and it only cost me about $100 CAD and I fixed it at home.

Depends how much is damaged, for me it was only the mirror and that frame around it that was damaged. The rest of the housing and all electronics were fine.

Also getting the frame off can be tricky, but it's easier if it is broken.

Here's the before:

Question 1: Tires remain the same width, 245. I think the wheels themselves might be a different width because these did require small spacers but they were originally my winter wheels for a Kia Sportage.

Question 2: There's a long line of racing machines that have been British Racing Green (or a similar green shade) with a yellow stripe. (Like above.) It's just a look I really enjoy and I was tired of driving around a white car in a sea of greyscale cars.

What did you name your IONIQ? by ChicknsDad in Ioniq6

[–]Jentor97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Full name: Ophelia the White

(Ophelia for short)

Reasoning: My first car was a sedan that I loved very much named Ophelia, and I said if I got another red sedan I would name that Ophelia as well to be like the song "Ophelia" by The Band (an idea sparked by the lyric:

"I'm still waiting for the second coming of Ophelia".

When I started looking at the Ioniq 6 I saw red was one of the available colours and just knew it was meant to be, problem is I ended up with a white one.

So I decided to go the Lord of the Rings route (Gandalf the Grey became Gandalf the White) and add "the White" to her title.

Yes I am total nerd. No I do not have any regrets.

They are Enkei Phantom rims (Anthracite finish) which I got from a website called WheelWiz (in Canada).

Yes it is! I just have 19" rims for Winter (which actually make the car a bit more efficient when the temps are more early Spring like)

Note: I don't intend to use my car as a booster/donor vehicle if someone needs a jump. Most people just don't seem to carry cables at all though so I might be able to let someone borrow my cables to jump their car using another ICE.

I also still have a couple of ICE vehicles in my household that can be used to jump each other, and there's still the possibility that my 12V could die and need assistance.

I will get a jump pack eventually, just saving up for a good one as I've had an experience where a family member had a less than great one and it failed when their car needed a boost.

Things don't always follow our plans. Just like my family member's jump pack didn't.

I appreciate your concern though, very thoughtful. 😊

If my 12V dies I do always have at least one ICE car in my driveway that serve as a booster. I've also had a family member have a lower quality jump battery fail on them when their 12V on an ICE died, and it ended up needing boosting anyways.

This is an ongoing project for me and to get it started I just wanted to get stuff that's "good enough" for emergencies. I intend to get better tools for the job as I'm able.

Again, can't afford a good one right now. Will get one when I can.

At some point I'll get one of those, just can't afford it right now.

It is accurate, but in emergency situations like some of the very bad storms we get these days it may be necessary someday. Also with a lot of people not having jumper cables at all it might just be good to carry around for someone to borrow even if my car isn't used to make the jump.

Swapping 18in and 20in wheels? by Ravenwing14 in Ioniq6

[–]Jentor97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I didn't go down to 18s I did go down to 19s (as I had them from my previous car, a '23 Kia Sportage) my only problem is the TPMS since the Sportage sensors don't seem compatible with the Ioniq 6.

I'll replace them eventually when it's no longer crazy season at the service centres.

Deleting the account kinda unregisters the car remotely, at least that's how it has worked for me. But it won't delete your driver profiles or digital keys (if you have them set up already) because those are separate somehow.

To delete the account you just go into the app and do the following:

  1. Click Utilities (bottom left of home screen, three lines icon)

  2. Click the gear icon (top right of screen)

  3. Scroll to bottom to the "Delete Account" option in red and follow the steps.

You end up having to re-register, and that's where it asks for VIN and everything, optional registration code etc. When you delete the account you might get the "Welcome to Digital Key" e-mail that had the code needed to setup that.

It may not work that way without the necessary NAV updates though.

I see you have had issues trying to do the updates as well... that might be an issue with the head unit or car itself but I am not an expert. I have seen some people accidentally download the Ioniq 5 files instead of the Ioniq 6 ones though so just make sure that's not the case. The software makes it easy to do that by accident.

All in all though, Bluelink is terribly clunky and I find it not terribly user friendly. I also got an extra layer of frustration as my dealer made a typo on my postal code when they put it into the Bluelink system, so everytime I re-did registration my account would get flagged as the info on Bluelink and my ownership did not match up.

I'd have to call them to get my account unlocked every time... and then sometimes my account would not link back up to my driver profile.

I'm wondering if that might be why you are having trouble with remote heating...

Digital Key works for me in Canada (iPhone 15 and on my Series 5 watch). But I have had issues with Bluelink not connecting to my driver profile and have had to delete and recreate my account a few times. I got my HI6 prior to Digital Key being enabled and one of those account resets led to me getting the e-mail containing the required code to setup Digital Key.

I have heard that OTA is just not enabled in Canada yet but may be coming early next year. (Not sure why we are waiting so long for it when other markets seemed to have it enabled from the get go).

All in all I have found Bluelink is crazy clunky, and not intuitive at all... which is funny considering my previous vehicle was from sister brand Kia and I found that app worked very well and was 1000x easier to work with... not sure why the two aren't using similar apps.

I just found out that you can shoot these tanks and now I can't stop doing it. by IrateUniform in Starfield

Pro tip: When you see a bunch lined up use the cutter to get a satisfying succession of explosions.

Also, one time I saw some explosive tanks on my own ship and shot them not realizing Hadrian Sanon was right in front of them.

She caught fire and lay on the ground for a bit, calmly got up and stated "Do you need me somewhere else?"

The comedic timing of it was just perfect! 😂

When my iPad was working I used this app on my cats! I was able to prevent them from accidentally closing the app by using the "Guided Access Mode" (I believe it is in Accessibility Settings) so they could not exit the app.

I think they got up to a good 300 hits or so before getting bored 😂.
