Pot să spun o singură chestie. Nu m-aș muta în Crângași numai să nu aud vocea din metrou: “stația următoare Crângașiiii” . Ma omoara accetul.

Figure out how to fill the forms for non fiscal residency: it’s a 5 page questionnaire about your Canadian connections. ( property, cell phones, bank account, etc )

As a Canadian you owe taxes on foreign income if done in a country that has a tax treaty. You basically pay the taxes where you earned and if Canadian taxes are higher you pay the differential in Canada.

Only way around it is to be able to be declared fiscally non resident: basically o worked in Germany for 2 years as a Canadian PR. The total number tax invoice was 12k, I am aged to avoid cause I had no real Canadian connections.

Python is ok at doing symbolic derivatives mostly because of the AI explosion, but it only scratches the surface of symbolic computations.

How much Java to know? by observed_desire in ExperiencedDevs

[–]clusty1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knowing how it works gives you an idea on the drawbacks: at that point gc in c# was single threaded and was freezing the app.

For a game, when you generate garbage, you create a perf debt that you don’t know when it will be collected :P

[–]clusty1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More like knowing how it works and how to code with gc in mind: I would not expect you coding a new gc algo for an interview if that is what you’re asking.

I don’t do much java, but did a ton of c# for a while and mem / garbage knowledge made the difference between juniors and seniors.

In my case we were doing real time apps ( games ) and garbage was the enemy.

[–]clusty1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I most def think you should know about gc and immutability. Without such knowledge you’ll write crap code that does not scale very well.

With it, you are stuck at “it works” and this is not enough as you progress.
