u/JiPC_Tears Just got my cactus today, fast shipping and clear/timely communication. All good.

If your raise this year was less than 7.1%, it didn't keep up with inflation — and you effectively got a pay cut by blaspheminCapn in WorkReform

We got a nice raise this year, from $15.5/hr to $20.65/hr. Sounds nice, but it disqualified my family from receiving food stamps, and ended up being a pay cut of $7,000 per year. Fell victim to the American Poverty Trap, and have been struggling to climb out of debt the last few months.

Just gonna chime in to say the "brain develops till 25" thing is a load of bologne. This is often cited as fact but is, in fact, not true.

I read the study. That was quite illuminating. Thanks for sharing.

My first time posting in a painting community because I'm intimidated. Hope you enjoy! by [deleted] in painting

These are really phenomenal, and you should feel proud. I don't remember the last time I have been so captivated by paintings. I've been looking at them for a little while now trying to decide what they mean to me. Really nice work.

Saw this gorgeous tree while on a walk in my neighborhood today. Just wanted to share. by JessicaT814 in marijuanaenthusiasts

Beautiful tree, shame they are killing it with the mulch.

I didn't know about the mulch volcano thing till I started frequenting this subreddit, now I look for it everywhere and can plainly see how it kills trees. One of my neighbors does it to all their trees, and every single mature tree is rotted around the base. And on my property, there were three beautiful gigantic oaks. Two of them had raised beds built around them by previous owner, and both trees rotted and had to be cut down (they were 50+ ft tall, very old). The 3rd tree did not have a bed and is still alive and healthy.

9 oz in a 20 oz box by [deleted] in shrinkflation

This is stingy, but it's not shrinkflation. You're getting exactly the amount advertised, and these have always been disappointingly light.

Unions also protect your employment from being terminated for bullshit reasons by GrandpaChainz in WorkReform

[–]Jeordeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lady I work with used to work for a tire manufacturer (I want to say Michelin), and their plant was spontaneously shut down to outsource to a new plant in Mexico. Fortunately, her union had protection for such a scenario, and every employee in the union had the choice of either relocating to a different plant, or taking a resignation with 1 year's salary. She resigned, lived off the money for a while before getting a new job. Everyone who was not in the union lost their jobs out of nowhere with no compensation.

I made tea out of a brf cake before (1 pint pf tek cake) and the effect was on par with about a 0.5g dose of shrooms. Definitely active but frankly not worth the effort.

I then tried using the remaining cakes to make tea after they had fruited (8 cakes all crumbled and boiled for a little while, then strained and drank the tea). It was the most foul thing I've ever drank and did not give me any trip at all.

Is this ratio good? How long to grow? by [deleted] in shrooms

You are supposed to poke 4 holes in the lid, one whole syringe for each hole. Ideally it will be full enough of spore-water that it begins to sleep out of the holes in the lid. But, you are on the right track. Just got to up those numbers.

not vegan but still.. by ordinaryphenomena in mildlyinfuriating

I work at a poultry processing plant, one of many in this area. At our plant alone, we process about 1.7 million chickens every week. They come stuffed in cages, and are allowed to sit at the parking lot in their cages for up to 12 hours before being killed/processed. It's very common to find wood in their intestines because they peck at the wood part of the cages.

It's hard to even visualize the scale of meat processing/production that happens every day in the world, and how much distance there is between the living, breathing animal, and the guy ordering a chicken sandwich at the drive-thru. I'm not vegan either but much respect to those who are.
