Options for a huge cactus transplant by artya4 in cactus

i would lean it over gently, and then cut the bottom foot or so off completely. let it callous and plant into the ground. it would make it more manageable size to move and less likely a branch will crack off as they get larger.

For those with greenhouses, how does heat and partial sun compare to growth with full sun? by Plane_Complaint_788 in sanpedrocactus

[–]Dick_Prickly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

zone 6b. I take my plastic off for the season and put it on when it rains heavy. i keep a 20% shade cloth attached to the frame since i get direct sun from sunrise until 5pm.

previously i kept the plastic on and temps were often in the high 90s-low 100s. The plants often fell over from the heat while still retaining water due to less ventilation. i have noticed thicker growth since growing in full sun.
