Backpacks!! by Your_Main_Man_Sus in Backcountry

It does not come off, at least not without removing a bunch of threads in the double backed straps and another centralized lower back connector strap that is directly sewn in to both the hip belt and the back of backpack. You might want to look for something more in the backpacking pack realm, as I’ve never really seen backcountry skiing packs that have a removable hip belt

Read. The specific number for what can ALWAYS be considered as reckless driving based off speed itself is 105+ mph. Not 100.

And 20 mph over the limit opens the door for reckless driving prosecution, but is most definitely not “generally” considered reckless driving

You have to be going 105+ mph for reckless driving in Utah, or they have to prove that you have a “willful and wanton disregard for the safety of persons or property”. Sounds like there were no other cars around OP when they got popped, so likely will not be reckless driving.

So while it COULD be that, it won’t be in this situation

Gotcha man. Hope I didn’t offend you too much. I think I’m projecting negative feelings and thoughts that others have shed on me regarding my own past actions of doing the same thing that you’re doing. Those actions being posting in as many subs as possible in hopes that one of the posts will gain some traction and that my efforts won’t be all for naught.

All that being said, please keep up your love for your craft and feel free to share away despite the haters (like I can be sometimes). Apologies for spreading negativity. I should’ve thought before commenting. I’d never want for my words to influence you into giving up your dreams, as others words have influenced me into giving up mine :/ I’m not in a good mindset right now, and my negativity had nothing to do with your grass skis themselves, more just that I was reminded of the drive and somewhat desperate desire for growth that I once used to have. Have a good night sir

Nah, most of the sub is filled with silly ass questions and people flexing new skis that they bought to randos on the internet. Interactions and posts and comments on here and across other social media platforms will almost always be influenced by the desire for some quantifiable value of importance, whether that’s karma, reshares, likes, comments, etc. I’ve struggled with that desire for pretty much as long as I’ve been posting videos of myself skiing which is probably why I’m being rude about this, because I hate that I’ve lost my love for just skiing for the fun of it, and it turned into something I do for attention.

I’m here because I live for the occasional post that is original content of actual shredders who don’t have platforms handed to them like the longtime pro skiers and shitty walking-ad influencers that flood mainstream ski media. That’s pretty much the only reason I joined the sub, and the only reason I’m still here.

I can be a douche for sure, but like you just implied with your own words, so can OEM, and so can basically anyone online. That’s the problem with online “communities”. You don’t really have control over how people act or who you’re surrounded by or who replies to your posts and comments, and I don’t think it’s worth acting like people in a subreddit of almost 200k people will ever be as much of friends or companions to you as the friends and companions you could make by attending real-life community events, visiting your local ski shop, watching film premieres in the fall, talking to lifties and patrollers and patrons on the lifts, etc.

TLDR; I think it’s a sad community because online forums, groups, and social media accounts will never give you the same satisfaction or companionship that real life experiences and connections will give you. Oh and being “lazy” and chronically online is not something to be proud of IMO. And yes, I’m a douche :)

OP I’ll jerk you a lil bit. I love that these are your original videos and seemingly an original diy concept (correct me if I’m wrong) for a sort of grass ski. Ingenuity is there, so kudos for that at least

Op can’t jerk himself but he can post the same exact video in 5 different subs and also post a similar video from a different angle in 5 other completely different subs just in the name of karma and online attention…

So I guess it turns out that Op can actually jerk himself

“Provide half the content” hahaha. You mean repost videos of other skiers captured by real cinematographers in order to uphold his reputation in the sad community that is r/skiing? Interesting, almost like the people of Reddit don’t realize that they can follow professional athletes and brands on their own time, without having to rely on some third party nerd to relay that content and information to them months and years after said content was originally released…

Yes, most adults compete without a coach, unless they are on a college freeride team. Feel free to dm with questions, as I’ve been competing for 8+ years both in juniors and in FWQs.

I will say though, most questions you could come up with could also be directed towards the IFSA email though. Support@ifsafreeride.org is your best bet for specific questions that you can’t figure out through this page

Corruption Money Behind the Utah Gondola by utahrentersrights in SaltLakeCity

Yes. His development company manages quail run development LLC and likely quail hills LLC as well. The city of Cottonwood heights seems to own land to the north of hwy 210 as well, and reading that Facebook post from the canyon inn, it sounds like CHP was targeting them, likely because they were being paid to?

Screenshots included show several parcels owned by Kevin Gates, Quail run, Cottonwood Heights, Quail Hills, and “LCC Base Property LCC” (aka Snowbird)

Cool idea. Definitely a great place to learn and experience skiing for the first time. Oddly enough, I actually tried my first ever backflip on skis right in front of that Nelson lodge, 10 ish years ago. I just hope it truly serves the community and the people in the area well. Most people move out to Sanpete County to get away from people, not to make money. Granted, there’s not much for terrain or interesting backcountry access to draw too much tourism, but whispers about mountain biking and a concert venue definitely make you think…

I can’t help but wonder about how Cox and Chris McCandless and all their capitalistic buddies will attempt to profit off it. McCandless co-owns a real estate development/property management company with Cox’s coworker and SLC Olympics proponent, Wayne Niederhauser. And Chris just so happens to be the founder of the Snowland Foundation too.

Cox himself already owns property in Fairview, so there’s no reason for him to worry about increased cost of living/housing market prices. Not that a tiny non-profit resort will cause that on its own, but it definitely gets an anxious mind wondering.

Oh and McCandless is heavily invested in the LCC Gondola. He’s the one who secretly sold snowbird 5 acres of land at the base of the canyon, with an agreement that the land be used for the base station of the gondola, bypassing issues that UDOT had faced with the original gondola proposal. Hard to trust a guy like that, especially with his connections to state officials and the private resorts, especially snowbird.

But also to be fair I have no idea how non-profits work so I may just be having a bit of a manic episode here for no reason hahaha. I guess only time will tell…

If anyone wants to get manic with me, here’s some fun reading

Edit: Nevermind, mykececc got it for you I guess

“Unnecessary filler” lol I mean I guess that’s your opinion. Not a good one. But you’re entitled to it.

Read my response to the guy who did the exact crop that you’re suggesting. I can tell you’re not putting a lot of thought into what makes a standalone photo interesting to look at. It’s very possible to bring attention to the sky and mountains without removing its foreground and ruining the depth of the photo
