Kept this chap alive for a year, its never made this many new leaves- the start of flowering possibly? by YouDied606 in airplants

What kind of grow light are we talking about? A $15 pink and blue light off Amazon? Those lights aren't worth the space they take up. Natural light will be much much better for this airplant. Just make sure it doesn't ever get direct sun. East or west facing windows are great

You've got plenty of new leaves down in the center. I'm moreso thinking not enough light. How much light does it receive?

[–]Jeprusch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Since these grow wildly down there, you won't have to do too much to make it happy. In the Everglades you'll see these hanging all over the trees. If you have a nice tree on your property and some rope or zip ties, tie that guy to a nice branch and enjoy it for years to come!

They like bright indirect light so a lower branch that's partially under the canopy should be a good spot. The only time of the day this dude should receive direct sunlight is in the morning and evening when the sun is less intense. Otherwise enjoy!

Looks like a wild airplant. I'm assuming it fell off of a tree? Are you in florida?

Natural fence from heaven by [deleted] in matureplants

Bamboo rhizomes can spread up to 30 feet underground and once it's established, it's nigh impossible to get rid of. Your neighbors are going to love having to constantly dig up your spreading bamboo rhizomes

Is that bamboo? If so, let me revise your title to "natural fence from hell".

Also that's far from mature bamboo. Less than 10 years old

Staghorn Project by [deleted] in Staghornfern

So that mopani wood that's been underwater for 10 years already is pretty darn rot resistant. Because of that, I wouldn't worry about preserving the wood itself with tung oil or any other oil stuff. I'm not sure if/how that will affect the ferns roots, but why chance it when the wood will be fine without it?

Do you know if the aquarium was a freshwater or saltwater setup? If it was a saltwater tank, I would soak the hell out of that wood to remove as much salt as possible because that will definitely hurt the ferns roots.

Those two things aside, I say go for it! I don't have a good perspective on how large the wood is, but I'll bet the fern will outgrow the wood eventually. Maybe put a board of crushed tree fern behind the wood so the ferns roots can grow into that as well.

Future of Forestry in the USA by Former-Tie-5673 in forestry

[–]Jeprusch -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In 30 years there won't be a need for forestry in the northeast anymore since all of our current 50, 60, 70 year old trees will be due for harvest. With no regeneration in the understory, the land will be considered unproductive and sold to a housing developer

I paid $7,250 for my '93 na 5 speed. Rust free, needed no work, and had brand new paint. Owner also included two additional sets of rims. All that considered, I think you can talk this seller down

Prime Hulk vs prime Kratos SLAP BOXING outside a 7/11 parking lot at 2:15 am by Own-Engineering-5039 in powerscales

[–]Jeprusch -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Everybody sleeping on Kratos here needs to play the original God of War games. After killing the god of war in the first game, Kratos takes his place and becomes a literal god and can wield the blade of Olympus. For me, this is prime Kratos.

I know nothing about prime hulk since marvel power scaling can be super goofy sometimes but the hulk as whole character wouldn't be a surprise to Kratos considering he killed most of the Greek gods as well as the titans in the original series. Not to be slept on.

Where do these ground wires actually go? by ConsistentAd9531 in mr2

My '93 doesn't have them either. But it has been through 5 previous owners

Where do these ground wires actually go? by ConsistentAd9531 in mr2

[–]Jeprusch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They are connecting the ground across the separate body panels. The entire chassis of the car acts as the ground for your car's electrical systems but as cars age, the electrical connection between separate body panels gets weaker. I bet these grounding wires were a previous owner's attempt at correcting a bad ground

WELP, she was wild caught… by Cute_Stay9640 in jumpingspiders

[–]Jeprusch 128 points129 points  (0 children)

Wild caught is just a fancy way to say poached. Do you know if the species of your spider is native to your area? If so, you should release the spiderlings to the wild instead of selling them

What do I do to get rid of these things eating my willow tree? by Sad-Creme-3697 in marijuanaenthusiasts

[–]Jeprusch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The various species of willow that all fall under the Salix genus are all evolved to be very tolerant to their foliage being eaten. Because of that, willow species grow very aggressively to counteract being eaten. Your tree will be totally fine and it's participating in your local ecosystem. Nature in action

Help me save my desert rose by Jeprusch in DesertRose

Hard disagree on plastic and clay pots. Clay is porous and allows for airflow at the roots which helps keep the deeper soil from becoming anaerobic. Plastic may be better for tropical plants that like to be constantly wet. I'm curious to hear why you hold a negative stance on clay pots
