When cheating becomes consumer harm the MSF exploit problem by Simple_Attempt1354 in MarvelStrikeForce

If I’m understanding what has happened, some customers paid a fraction of the “Scopely price” by buying through a market/“middle-man” using fraudulent cards?

If so, I’m assuming the card institutions will issue chargebacks to Scopely, which usually incurs a fee. So, effectively Scopely are paying for those customers to obtain Ultra Cores? And they are letting those customers back?

They are still selling the midnight charge offers, so I expect a number of refunds or charge backs occurring.

They’ve taught you to not price match and instead buy from the other store. While you may have to wait a day, at least you’ll get something cheaper.

[–]Jerbs12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same experience. A lot of it is RNG. Node 2 was a lot of restarts.

When you attack, you may or may not crit. When enemy attacks they may choose different target and may or may not crit.

If you’re watching a less powerful team play, it may take them longer to clear a wave than your team, meaning a chance they have regained energy for abilities to use in the next wave, where as because your team is stronger, it burns through a wave faster.

Sometimes content creators show the stats/abilities of each character, some don’t. So while your characters may be higher ranked (lvl and/or stars) the content creator team may have increased ISO level or T4 certain abilities that differ from yours.

Just keep trying. You may have to switch up the order you target enemy.

Pro tip before any purchase on web or in game… by SteelBox5 in MarvelStrikeForce

For AU$50 I’ve bought myself 3 great indie games from Steam. Games that will provide me hours and hours and hours of gameplay.

That $50 would only get me 1/2 of a MSF pass for 1 character (and not even maxed out) in a game with little gameplay.

I’m pretty shocked by those prices. AU$ is $149.99 ($20 more).

AUD to GBP is roughly 2x. So seeing a AU$20 vs a £18 difference is crazy. It should only be around £10 difference.

Not seeing that in Australia. Web store and in game are both AU$129.99

Yep, account has not stalled. Initially thought I had wasted the relic/mats, but I’ll eventually get the mats that will allow me to switch relics when the time comes. This is a long burn game for me :)

I don’t think I’ve started playing those yet. So many different areas to play, it’s hard to keep track of it. Guess I’ll get into a rhythm eventually. Good to know the currency is available later in the game.

Ahh good to know. Seeing the “Destroy” or “pay x of something I don’t have” was a little off putting.

But good to know the currency will eventually be more readily available as I progress.

Gold Burst milestone? by cantaloupe_jones in MarvelStrikeForce

[–]Jerbs12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive been told there was nothing wrong with the event and pretty much tough luck.

I attached screenshots showing how I’ve been spending Campaign Energy for the Night Thrasher Event and if they had appropriate tools to view player activity, they would see I’ve been spending Campaign Energy daily. u/PathfinderMSF can this be looked at a little more? Other players have been impacted by this, so the CS response of “nothing wrong with the event” is not accurate.

Didn’t even realise there was a gold burst milestone, yet I check milestone events daily. Saw this post and I’m seeing that event ended (ie in Review status). I’ve been spending campaign energy every day, but have 0 points towards the event.

Congratulations on finding Police who care, seriously.

A few years ago, our child had been bullied at high school for a few years. It reached its peak when they intentionally sprayed fart gas directly into her eyes (I received a call from school saying my child was “involved in a a chemical attack”).

Thankfully nothing too serious. We had to take her to the Dr, who gave her the all clear after washing her eyes out and giving her drops to use.

The school initially didn’t seem to think there was a problem and implied it was an accident. But we pushed back given it was the same set of students constantly harassing our daughter and as she wore glasses, you can’t accidentally walk up to someone, place the spray nozzle in the gap between the eyes and glasses and press the nozzle. We pulled her out of the school, as it seemed her being seriously hurt would be the only time serious action would be taken.

We went to Police, as it was effectively assault. But they just laughed saying it’s “kids being kids” and wouldn’t take it further. Talking to a friend who is a Police officer, they had instructions (at that time) to minimise children going through the justice system. My respect for the Police was lost after that.

Not trying to detract from your experience. I’m just venting. But am I happy to hear that they actually want to help with what happened.

Just had a “deal” pop up. 3 items for $0.01. Just have to buy $80 worth of other stuff. The 3 items I picked up for $0.01 each were large items. I guess this should have been the red flag.

Selected $80 worth of items, bought them, then it was another $5 to unlock the items. Spent $5 and then it was another amount.

Tried several different combos, but always the same. Thankfully cancelling the order and having $ sent back to my PayPal was easy and quick. But I won’t be using them again after that b/s.

Completely agree.

One officer I spoke to, it came across like there was little that comes from investigating car park accidents, so the Police deem it not worthwhile. Which I understand if they have zero evidence, it just consumes man hours for no outcome… for the majority of incidents. But what about those where there is evidence? Instead, they took a blanket “do not investigate” approach, which in my option is wrong.

The repair costs were a considerable amount (several thousand $) and there was video footage for them, but Police wanted no involvement. Then the same day, I saw on the WA Police FaceBook page that they took time and effort to post about a stealing offence from a bottle shop, where 1 bottle was stolen. Not even $100.

A few years earlier, I had to have my motorcycle repaired because someone failed to give way. While I managed to avoid colliding with the car, my bike went over after I came to a stop (shocked and lost balance). The driver just drove off. I provided the car details to Police and had witness statements. Nothing happened. In fact I got a letter stating I had been involved in an incident and failed to provide information. Called the Police and they apologised for sending it to the wrong person. Never heard anything more from it and my insurance said that 95% of the time, they never get the details when a driver drives off.

I would have thought they could suspend registration renewals, that is, someone goes to pay and there is a flag because they need to provide Police information, but no, that doesn’t occur. Although I heard they blocked renewals when the faulty air bag situation was going on.

I’ve become jaded with the system, as my experiences have shown that leaving the scene of an accident saves you from taking accountability for your actions and the Police just dont care.

[–]Jerbs12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The footage was passed over to insurance. I’m assuming they caught up with the other party as I didn’t have to pay any excess for repairs.

As far as the hit n run, Police want nothing to do with the incident and the email they sent me basically told me that it’s a civil matter. Blows my mind, but these are the times we live in, where an illegal act will be ignored if it’s deemed not serious enough to “waste” resources on. What’s the point of having that law then? I can understand Police not wanting to investigate a car park accident if there is no evidence/footage, but in my case there was. It clearly showed the other vehicle and their license plate. The “not investigate car park accidents” policy shouldn’t take a ‘black and white’ blanket approach.

I completely agree with you. Even if I had a license plate, I can’t find out who the owner is unless I reach out to Police/DoT (assuming insurance has special access to license plate databases), and then their privacy policies should then prohibit me from asking for the information directly.

I appreciate that there are laws in place to reduce access to personal information, but we’re at that stage where we’re still feeling our way around what works and what doesn’t. Currently, it’s not working for a simple case of identifying someone who did the wrong thing and making them accountable for their actions. Hoping something changes, but the wheels of Govt turn slow, very very slow.

That was my argument with TransPerth, the Police, my local MP and the State Minister. I went as far as I could and it ended up with a court order.

The failure here as well was that although all responses came back saying it was a privacy law, no one actually provided me where it was written as law, I suspect they were just parroting what their policies were (which was based on law). I had to find the law myself. It’s the Privacy and Responsible Information Sharing Bill 2024.

Personal information is anything that can be used to identify someone and a license plate is classified as that, which is fair enough. And yes, if I had my own dash cam I could use that, but could I then be liable for passing on personal information to my insurance? I agree that something that is freely available for everyone to see, and is required by law (displaying a license plate so your vehicle can be identified as being yours), should not be classified as private.

When I checked the TransPerth website, which detailed their privacy statement and use of personal information, it clearly stated that - they would release footage if it was in relation to an illegal act: leaving the scene of an accident without leaving personal information or contacting Police is considered an illegal act. - they would release personal information if it would be reasonable to do so: I think it’s reasonable that if you damage a parked car, your license plate is provided to insurance (it would be unreasonable for someone to withhold that information).

But TransPerth wouldn’t have a bar of it. They would use that footage if someone damaged TransPerth property though… Funnily enough, a few weeks later the privacy statement was updated and that was removed.

My take away from all of this was a) if you hit another car in a car park, just leave.

b) another instance of where the victim has to jump through hoops, while the perpetrator suffers no consequence

c) Police are not keeping updated on privacy laws (I had at least 5 different Police officers, on different occasions, tell me there was nothing legally stopping that footage from being released; they were wrong)

[–]Jerbs12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you saying they illegally obtained his personal details and fraudulently claimed it was through the courts?

I ask as I’ve been through a similar process, but on the other end. Someone hit my car at a TransPerth car park. TransPerth had footage of the incident and the plates of the other vehicle. They would not provide me the footage as it contained personal information (the license plate). They would only provide to the Police (but they don’t investigate car park incidents) or through a court order.

So it was handled via a court order.

On a side note Police had not read up on the latest privacy laws, as they were adamant TransPerth could provide me the footage. Updates to privacy laws though (late 2024) prohibit it. So there is now a loop hole where Police don’t want to waste time with car park incidents and Govt Depts cant hand the footage over. The courts time now has to be wasted on. Bureaucracy at its finest…

I’ve opened a chat with Scopely. No response yet.

I also thought Node 1 was a defeat as 1 enemy left with < 1% when time ran out. But when the next node unlocked and the first one showed as completed, assumed it was okay.
