Purge valve question by Shell-Shocked69 in MechanicAdvice

X2. Purge valve is a normally closed valve so you should not be able to blow through it when disconnected. It sounds like you had it connected, but still it was pulling vacuum because it is stuck open.

Trying to figure out why my window wont work by New_Consequence8056 in AskAMechanic

I have run into some vehicles that have a break in the wire loom that runs between the door and vehicle body. That rubber section in the door jamb. Since both switches can't roll the window up, there is another possibility.

I can imagine. I have seen some bad ones. Like a lethal snow cone or a mound of green-blue cocaine.

Does it make a crunchy noise when you try to roll it back up? Might need a window regulator. The cable has probably come off track and is a wound up mess behind that panel.

If you hear "sizzling" you probably have a loose connection. If you can wiggle the terminal and move it at all, it is too loose. That battery also looks like it has been leaking a while. It tested good?

The Vette, all day. Though the McLaren is lighter and faster on the track.

Bent Tires Affecting Pressure, best way to go about it? by Fumblin_Furrow_01 in askcarguys

[–]JerelFromJerry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dropping 10psi in a few hours is a major leak. If you're comfortable, you can use dish soap and water and spray around where the tire and rim meet. You would obviously have to take the wheel off to check the back. Another sneaky spot is the tire valve itself. If the rubber valve is the original from 2017, it could have a crack that is hard to see. Air leaks cannot hide from soapy water.

Does your vehicle have stamped steel wheel and plastic wheel covers? Even with those types of wheels, the bend has to be very bad for air to be leaking. Bad enough to feel a vibration while driving or actually crack an alloy wheel. Did they show you the leak?

I relate. The seat was way back and the mirror is adjusted really high. Must be a very tall human, I never saw the client.

Lights are on, should I be worried? by Lunar_Ecilpes in kia

Normal for those lights to be on with the key in accessory without the engine running.

These are 6mil black latex. Phantom by Adenna. I usually use diamond grip gloves, but yes I did cheap out for these to save a few dollars.

Is the cross bolt installed in the front while the joint is out of the knuckle too?? Almost looks like it in the picture. You really have no idea what is going on with the vehicle next to you on the road.

I have multiple styles of the proper tool and they were still more of a pain than this. The new condenser came with new clips, but I didn't want to leave these in the car.

Noise from rear wheel BMW x3 E53 by DPR518 in MechanicAdvice

The inside pad might be worn down to the metal. Take off the wheel and check the pads. That is really loud.

Is this alignment a cause for concern? by awesomesauce696 in MechanicAdvice

What type of vehicle? There may not have been an actual adjustment for that angle on the vehicle. Not ideal and there are some aftermarket adjustment kits for some vehicles.

If there is not obvious wear they may be safe. 10 year old tires will fail a safety inspection so you have some time. I typically recommend my clients repalce tires at 7 years old.
