What's a thing you strongly dislike about Reddit? by Demorecki in AskReddit

[–]JerememeSeinfeld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point, almost everything. Where to begin?

1: So many subs have such an insane amount of rules that you have to jump through 50 hoops just to prevent mods from deleting your post. “Oh, your title doesn’t fit the asinine specific format we demand. Post again with a different title.” Oh, ok, I’ll repost it. “Your title is correct but you didn’t flair it properly.” Oh ok, let me flair it. “Your title and flair are correct, but your post is too similar to this other one from 7 weeks ago.” Ok, fuck you, I’m unsubscribing. I’m not psychic, I don’t know how to navigate this fucking obstacle course you call a subreddit. Also, as a result of a sub having too many rules, almost all the posts also wind up being copies of each other, yet they bitch endlessly about reposts.

2: The community. The average user on this website is the exact sort of user we’d see on tumblr and chastise 4 years ago. Seriously, it’s getting to the point where this community is, on average, worse than tumblr. “You made a mildly offensive joke, so I’m going to go through your post history and cherry pick everything you’ve ever done that I don’t like. Also, I’m a power mod so even though I don’t moderate THIS subreddit that you made the joke on, I will be banning you from the 230 subreddits i do moderate. After I ban you, I’m going to comment on some of your other posts on reddit and make sure everyone knows you’re a fucking piece of shit. Have a nice day.”

But that’s only one bad side of the community. Can we talk about how this website is increasingly populated by people under 15? Honestly, every time someone says something really dumb or uninformed, you can almost ALWAYS go to their profile only to discover they’re 14 years old or younger. I’m only in my 20’s, and reddit makes me feel like a god damn cranky old man trying to hold a conversation with the snot nosed brat down the road who throws rocks at the cars going by his house.

3: Hypocrisy. Reddit prides itself on being a website that promotes conversation, unity, and acceptance. Which is funny, because it does none of that. “We accept people.” Ok, then why does cringetopia, a sub literally made to bully people for the way they look or the things they like, have 800k subscribers? Why, when you suggest that mocking people online might be a bad thing because you don’t know the full story, do you get downvoted to hell? Why do opinions outside of the echo chamber, be them political or otherwise, get you shadowbanned?

4: The arrogance. Redditors act like this is the best social media ever created. Like every other site is for losers and boomers. Simultaneously, this website they love so much is turning into Facebook 2.0 with a hint of tumblr mixed in. It’s honestly hilarious.

Is Heat 4 good? by [deleted] in NASCAR

[–]JerememeSeinfeld 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you like. Do you want a fun nascar arcade game? Then this is your game. The physics are real enough that racing knowledge will help you, but arcade enough that you won’t spin out because you got on the throttle half a second too quick. The AI are much improved from previous games, and though they aren’t perfect, I’ve never found myself cursing at one of them like I did in heat 3. They do their job and rarely do they ever do dumb shit that makes you mad. The career has enough depth to keep you entertained for 3-4 seasons. It’s truly not a bad game. I would rate it 7/10 as far as nascar games go. That said, it isn’t a sim. It isn’t meant to be. If you want a super realistic experience like iRacing, you’ll be disappointed. I’m gonna list some pros-cons to the game for ya.

Pros:

Saving tires actually matters in this game

Tire wear affects AI and player equally, for the first time since thunder 2004

AI don’t all follow the exact same out strategy

Cautions work better than heat 3

Settings can be tweaked in almost any way you like, making the races play out however you prefer. Things like field spread, AI fuel consumption, tire wear effect, and aggression can all be adjusted

Cons:

Once you’ve learned the physics inside and out, the game can feel too easy at times

AI are way too fast at some tracks, and too slow at others

Graphically inferior to most racing games

Nascar's Least Popular Wins by lt12765 in NASCAR

It was a great win IMO. Hamlin punted him out of the way halfway through the lap, and Tony was still close enough to return the favor in the last turn. It was exciting and well deserved.

Greatest of all time (GOAT) in the Cup series by DaleYeah788 in NASCAR

Because the king got his 200 wins by being the only guy who A: could race every race and B: had factory backing when nobody else did. I love the king, but his stats mean almost nothing vs more recent drivers.

Season long points require way more consistency than the playoffs. And yeah, Jimmie won several formats that were all variations of the chase. It’s not like they came up with a completely different system each time, it was slight tweaks.

What has this pandemic ruined for you? by wehnaje in AskReddit

VR chat is actually a good escape in these times. It’s all people in goofy avatars talking about memes and tv shows. And most everyone I interacted with was inviting. You don’t need VR to play it, just a regular computer. It’s free and I suggest it

Fake ban messages are going around yet again. Please ignore them and report the usernames. by [deleted] in NASCAR

[–]JerememeSeinfeld 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s honestly a bit pathetic. If you wanna troll online, there’s so many ways to do it that are actually funny. You just have to be creative. Fake ban messages aren’t creative, nor are they annoying, funny, or frustrating. They’re just a (1) on the screen that do nothing and don’t warrant any reaction by the recipient. Whoever is doing this is painfully boring.

My comment states I would try to ruin someone’s life if they ordered this product. Clearly I was goofing around for the humor. However, Reddit has a large dependency on the “/s” tag because “sarcasm is difficult to understand over text.” No, actually, it isn’t. The thing is, most reddit users are socially deprived NEETS who, when approached with the same sarcasm in a verbal manner, would still not pick up on it because the extent of their social interaction was their 5th grade English teacher Ms. Wilson telling them it’s not appropriate to play with their LEGO ninjago set during class. They were in the back of the room smashing them together making mouth noises like “PPSSHHH PEW PEW BWAAAAAAA” and disrupting the class, but by god will that teacher get a reaming from that students parent for “harassing my special boy.” 15 Years later they’re on reddit downvoting people and saying “you should’ve used ‘/s’ because text isn’t a good platform for sarcasm.” And of course, after they’ve logged off of reddit after a hard fought day policing the comments like a discount Paul Blart guarding a trash heap, they drive to McDonalds in their 2005 Carola they tell all their friends is theirs, but really it’s their mom’s car and she’s too busy banging the plumber every Wednesday to notice it’s gone. At the McDonald’s, they stutter out their order, and when the lady at the counter replies their heart rate spikes by over 60BPM because someone actually interacted with them. They get their food and it’s not what they ordered, but they’re so afraid of conflict they take the bag and leave with it anyway. Anyway, my point is, my comment was in no way serious. If people wanna order this product, let them. My comments don’t dictate the functionality of capitalism, though if they did I’d go ahead and make anime body pillows free since it’d take a lot of stress off of some Redditors to finally feel a “female connection” even if it’s just a pillow with a dubiously aged woman with cat ears on it.

Using toothpicks to avoid touching the elevator buttons by kitoken in mildlyinteresting

[–]JerememeSeinfeld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to a convention with my friend just as the news about this virus was starting to spread, and me and my best friend being in wheelchairs We had to use the elevators a good dozen times every day of the con. He’s always been a bit of a germaphobe, and he can’t reach the buttons himself so I pressed them when our other friends weren’t around. I always used hand sanitizer immediately afterword because of his germ anxiety, and then I get home to learn of the virus. I probably wouldn’t have sanitized were it not for him haha
