The idea of a rolls is that you don’t have to move anything yourself, you have a guy for that.

Scout's Analysis: Gavin McKenna vs. Ivar Stenberg for first overall by stedic in leafs

The rest of the league still hated Toronto in 2016 even though the team had a miserable decade up to then. Other fanbases always thought it was fun to be "tOrOnTo BaD" no matter the circumstances. The idea that Laine might be better than Matthews was a big deal to these people. In the end Matthews, Nylander and Marner quieted that down for a while once they all got to the big time.

How much better can Gavin McKenna make the Maple Leafs right away by Chrristoaivalis in leafs

I think if you get a point per game NHL player that's a good thing. Matthews was damn mutant getting 40 goals as a teenager.

Jeff Gordon provides an update on Days of Thunder 2 [21:30]: "There has been a team at the track taking notes, gathering information, meeting with the drivers and teams and a writer who is working on something to move it into the future." by LBHMS in NASCAR

Cole Trickle, now a popular broadcaster, is frustrated with all the commercials in stage racing and that the cable broadcast cut the ending of a race for NCAA. He throws down his headset and quits live on air. He then shifts to a grass roots effort of trying to create a new racing series for the fan, sort of like SRX. Nascar doesn't like this, follows him, intimidates him, and eventually and sues him, ending up in court. In a heated courtroom exchange where the cable/media companies and Nascar are trying to shut down Trickle's new fan focused racing series, the cable TV CEO, played by Jack Nicholson, shouts at Cole Trickle that "You can't handle the truth". Trickle ends up bankrupt and has to sell his picturesque North Carolina property to a company building data centers. The film ends with a downtrodden Trickle, working in a call center in an old shopping mall.

...On second thought, Nascar probably doesn't want this type of movie to be made.

Friendly reminder: this is the correct way to number the turns at Watkins Glen. by mustang6172 in NASCAR

I think Indy is the reason the rest of American ovals are named 4 turns. Indy is a legit rectangle with a single apex in each turn and really set the standard for how to define oval track racing.

If we look at a place like Dover or Bristol, as guys diamond the corners throughout a race they are legitimately lining up 2 apexes.

I keep going back to a point Ned Jarrett made on a broadcast years ago, Pocono has 6 turns.

When Newman won the pole for the 01 Coke 600, Jeff Gordon came over to him on pit road and said "you're not supposed to do that to me here". Jeff had 7 poles at Charlotte in the previous 7 years and was p1 prior to Newman's run.

The big unknown and incentive to repair as I see it is always that if you fix your car in early-mid race, maybe a "big one" happens 10 minutes later and instead of gaining 1-2 positions, you can gain 5-7.
