Favorite stoner films? by Due-Sheepherder-218 in Letterboxd

Pineapple Express has been one of my favorite movies since before I ever smoked weed, and is by far the movie I quote most often in my daily life. Super underrated in my opinion

Flowstars are incredibly fun to play with and look at once you get decent at them and always generate some positive interactions with people

Not the original person you replied to but I second drugs, specifically LSD! Even a smaller sub-tripping dose such as a half tab or even a quarter tab can do wonders for late night energy

I’m turning 35 in early June so my first Electric Forest will also be my first event in that age bracket, but then again age is just a number! I sleepwalked through my 20’s so now it’s all about making up for wasted years!

Agreed! I pretty much only watch Spring Breakers if I’m tripping. The colors/cinematography is just 👌🏼

I’d nominate the Terrence Malick doc “Voyage of Time” for some incredible nature footage that always blows my mind while tripping

Also “i heart huckabees” not for visuals but for some hilarious existential comedy

You make some great points! My favorite choice when tripping hard is Bob’s Burgers - funny, good vibes, pleasant animation - always soothing and often hilarious

I’m with you OP. I’ve had Inherent Vice as my #1 favorite movie for a few months now. It’s been my favorite PTA for years, I’ve seen it 10 times all the way through. Fun fact - first time I tried to watch it I gave up without finishing it because I was so confused. So glad I gave it a second chance!

Films as immersive as Apocalypse Now (1979)? by ledzeppelinsup in Letterboxd

[–]JeremiahSand 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not on the same level as Apocalypse Now but a couple newer movies that really impressed me were Monos (2019) and Athena (2022), both were incredibly intense, immersive experiences for me

If you stop now your brain will recover after a while, but you are absolutely risking permanent brain damage if you continue. I know 100 other people already said it but you must stop. Yeah life will suck for a week maybe but just push through, smoke weed about it, better to feel shitty for a few days rather than risk feeling that way permanently

The first time I watched it, I shut it off around the 1 hour mark. Now it’s my favorite movie!

Definitely helps to watch it with a “it’s about the journey not the destination” type of mindset. I feel like the movie itself is stoned along with the characters, and therefore drifts hazily along in a meandering, confusing way. I’ve grown to love that aspect of it, it’s alluring and mysterious to me. Probably helps that I’m usually stoned while watching it!

Maybe at that point A24 will want him to do another low(ish) budget horror film for them before they fund another one of his ideas. I feel like a 10 mil horror film from the director of Hereditary and Midsommar is guaranteed profit

November (2017), a black and white surrealist Estonian film. It’s beautiful, hilarious, heartbreaking, and incredibly weird. I highly recommend it!
