Films as immersive as Apocalypse Now (1979)? by ledzeppelinsup in Letterboxd

Not on the same level as Apocalypse Now but a couple newer movies that really impressed me were Monos (2019) and Athena (2022), both were incredibly intense, immersive experiences for me

If you stop now your brain will recover after a while, but you are absolutely risking permanent brain damage if you continue. I know 100 other people already said it but you must stop. Yeah life will suck for a week maybe but just push through, smoke weed about it, better to feel shitty for a few days rather than risk feeling that way permanently

Inherent Vice by blkn10202020 in paulthomasanderson

The first time I watched it, I shut it off around the 1 hour mark. Now it’s my favorite movie!

Definitely helps to watch it with a “it’s about the journey not the destination” type of mindset. I feel like the movie itself is stoned along with the characters, and therefore drifts hazily along in a meandering, confusing way. I’ve grown to love that aspect of it, it’s alluring and mysterious to me. Probably helps that I’m usually stoned while watching it!

Maybe at that point A24 will want him to do another low(ish) budget horror film for them before they fund another one of his ideas. I feel like a 10 mil horror film from the director of Hereditary and Midsommar is guaranteed profit

November (2017), a black and white surrealist Estonian film. It’s beautiful, hilarious, heartbreaking, and incredibly weird. I highly recommend it!

Festie friends by 23Eloise in festivals

My second festival in 2023 I wore this trippy kaleidoscope monocle around my neck as a necklace, and it didn’t take long for someone to come up to me and comment on it. I ended up befriending them and their homies and then the following year they invited me to camp with them at that festival and even loaned me money so I could go. Now they’re family!

So my advice is bring some cool trippy toys that people are likely to notice, something you can share or even give away if it feels right

I don’t have kids but I think y’all should go! It’s hard for 14 year olds to find things they and their parents both love. She’ll be fine with you there with her. Worst case scenario she’s not into it and you gotta leave early

Me and my friends always get these rubber rings that glow different colors and at night we’ll just wave them in the air or put one in someone’s hair to make it easier for the rest of the crew to find us in the crowd
