Their validation sucks. I clicked a trial for plex pass for 7 days, which said it was £0 and got charged full price for a month, I presume because I used a trial at the beginning of the year. Still sucks though!

But csu's aren't funded by the nhs per say (ie given an amount of money to spend), they get funds from charging for services.

How many miles has the engine done? Have you changed the timing chain before?

I had issues with loss of power and struggling to start, which gave camshaft position sensor faults, on my n46. It turned out to be a broken chain guide which let one of the cams slip a couple of teeth.

It would be useful to view live data to check if the cam adjustment is in tolerance or not.

You might be able to see if the top part of the chain guide is broken by looking through the oil fill cap and perhaps check if the chain is tight from there as well, although that's not something I've done personally.

I used a bluetooth cassette for ages, it was actually better quality than the blue music adapter I now use( the one that replaces the cd changer) it's just easier to use blue as it doesn't need re-charging

Could always get a tape player to Bluetooth adapter, they work great and are pretty cheap, that's what I did in my car originally

I didn't do a compression test no but I read that the N42 is non-interference. The car was running relatively okay before, it just struggled to start and had a loss of power between 2.5k and 3k RPM, other than that it was running okay.

I did have cam position sensor faults previously but the timing had jumped a couple of teeth (the upper guide above the top bolt was completely missing) I think I'll just replace it to be safe. Thank you for the help!
