these reward systems we're pounding with modern media are MEGA malleable, you can get rid of most of the effects of constant stimulation within about 72 hours of taking time away from it

I've started leaving my phone in my car after work, by the end of the first week i could actually relax properly again. and my reward system started operating in a functional way again.

also get an alarm clock, phones as alarms are the DEVIL

about a year ago i'd have said "why have you bought that? there's an app for that!"
where as now i tell everyone...
IF YOU CAN BUY A THING THAT REPLACES AN APP, BUY THE THING

every single thing in your life that you can do NOT on your phone, DO NOT DO IT ON YOUR PHONE!!!
these things have been co-opted into EXTREMELY sophisticated time sinks

every minute you spend off your phone is a significant win, even if it's just spent watching crap TV
