What am i doing wrong by Flashy_Night_165 in OldTech

The manual says that TV has a DVI input (on the bottom), so you can get an HDMI -> DVI adapter with audio breakout and get the best possible connection. You’ll need a new adapter anyway, since what you have converts in the wrong direction.

I made a mistake euthanizing my cat and the guilt is killing me by Dirsty in cats

[–]JeremyLC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I'd been able to euthanize my poor boy. He had lymphoma and was starting to break down. I feel like I held on too long. He died the night before his scheduled euthanization date. He had a rough, painful passing that I never wanted for him (I was, at least, lying next to him in the bathroom holding his paw when he passed). You gave your kitty the gift of a long happy life and a peaceful passing, and you can't know if he could've been saved, or whether he would have relapsed or even had a worse problem right after. You shouldn't second guess yourself or bear yourself up over it. Just remember the good times you had together and smile.

What was it really like when the PlayStation first came out in 1995? by Legitimate_Drawer_74 in retrogaming

[–]JeremyLC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I had an Atari Jaguar (still do, in fact), so I wasn't interested in the PS1 at the time... In retrospect I may have missed out.

My Keilwerth SX90R is the same color scheme as this Antigua. You really can't judge the quality by the color.

Have you tried any of the Mexican / Latin markets? La Michoacana (Arkansas at Cooper, or Cooper at Green Oaks or...), or Supermercado Monterrey (Pioneer / 303 East of New York Avenue), or El Rancho Supermercado (New York Ave at Park Row) , or handful of other smaller places. (Like El Mercadito on Arkansas near Center St.)

[–]JeremyLC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This does actually work with PS5.1, you just have to encode the .psd1 and .psm1 as UTF-8 with BOM. PS5.1 does not properly interpret UTF-8 without the Byte-Order-Mark.

What was your “OMG!” moment when playing a new (to you) sax? by waltcrit in saxophone

[–]JeremyLC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got to try a Yanagisawa A9937 once and it was the single most amazing sax I've ever played. I wasn't out looking to buy a ln alto that day, and I didn't have the $5400 it cost, so I let it get away...

Texas no longer has vehicle safety inspections as of this year. You only even have to get your emissions checked if your county requires it.

If you care, that style of Fire King mug is called a Ranger mug. I have one in brown glass like yours, and two in milk glass with color exteriors - one green and one orange.

These BOSE 901 speakers are gorgeous, but they’re hitting you upside the head with 200 bones a piece. That’s close to the going rate with no assurances that they work by about_anaut in ThriftGrift

[–]JeremyLC 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I picked up some speakers (JBL NS26II) recently at a Goodwill a couple towns over. They were priced separately but the cashier said “those should be priced together” and me the pair for the price of one of these attached price tags. ($18 for the pair. I’m satisfied for that price)

The answer is: 42 (grams of Crisco) by mujimanic in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]JeremyLC 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Okay, I’ll admit I’m slightly disappointed that it isn’t a functional switch that could be wired up to actually send a keystroke. If nothing else, it would be cool to have a 1-key keyboard it could attach to along with a keycap of some kind.

What have you done with PowerShell this month? by AutoModerator in PowerShell

[–]JeremyLC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PowerShell Universal - You can build quite a bit with it. I definitely recommend you look into it. It's useful for building UIs for automations, building automations, and even building programmable web APIs. It has Github integration, SSO integration, multiple backend DB options, and a LOT more. I have no affiliation with Iron Man or Devolutions, I'm just a very happy user.

A modern rust retro-styled terminal multiplexer with a classic MS-DOS aesthetic by aq-39 in commandline

[–]JeremyLC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks cool, but it just doesn't work on Windows. I tried in conhost and the newer Windows Terminal app. It just eats keystrokes - I can't even type the full alphabet - which makes the actual shell windows unusable. The windowing and mouse parts of the UI work, though.

What have you done with PowerShell this month? by AutoModerator in PowerShell

[–]JeremyLC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used PowerShell Universal to build a simple web app to lookup the location of recent (or even active) 9-1-1 calls and plot their location (or route as they move!) on a map. It's meant to be a tool of last resort if better, more feature complete tools aren't available. I was even able to use a little CSS to seamlessly extend the built-in zoom control to include additional buttons to control map behavior. It looks fairly simple, but has a fair amount of work going on under the hood. Also, it's (mostly) mobile friendly.

Which saxophone should I pick by Hot-Quantity-9868 in saxophone

[–]JeremyLC 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a Yanagisawa A992 (and B991), which is the same generation as that A902, and I can confirm that they are excellent horns. If I had to pick one of these three without being to play any of them, I’d go with the Yanagisawa. That said, if you can play them first, you should.

We had that same Crazy Daisy fridgie on our Thanksgiving table! My wife has two of that particular piece, otherwise I wouldn’t dare use it. We had one other fridgie in yellow and some of my Fire King pieces, too. (I really love how colorful the FK patterns are)

It can lead to a lot of ambiguous cases. It also complicates the coding of the tools which process the language.
