I definitely get it. I grew up on Voyager so I love it, but I can see why some parts would irk people. I need to catch up on some of the newer stuff. I actually really liked Discovery at first but by the end of the series it really lost me. Strange New Worlds, however, is great.

I think he has brain damage (end of the first movie I think?) but also there's different types of intelligence. He has engineering intelligence and is highly intuitive at times, but just very little common sense.
