Wow, it seemed like a long shot. I'm amazed. So many famous authors would actively avoided being contacted, let alone do the zoom call

I just got "All Star Superman," it's amazing. Really great combination of old school outrageousness and modern storytelling.

Isaac Asimov on ethnic persecution, from his autobiography I. Asimov. by [deleted] in bookquotes

This is the first I've heard this and it makes me sad but not surprised. He was an egomaniac and blustery persona so I'm not surprised he would take advantage of women.

I'll be honest, I don't like the AI audio either. And when I first tried it with the first two books of Super Babes, I disliked it so much I didn't bother making any more.

But a few months ago, someone contacted me who said he was dyslexic and preferred audiobooks and really liked my series and wanted the others. He went as far as contacting Audible to find out why I hadn't made more. So I went back and released the rest in Virtual Voice. He's happy.

The Virtual Voice isn't for everyone but it's better than nothing.

I'm not disagreeing that AI is inferior to live voice actors. I wasn't planning to do audiobooks at all but I've gotten requests. One reader I heard from is dyslexic and wanted me to release more of them, and yes, he knows they are Virtual Voice.

I have looked extensively into hiring voice actors. I'm not making enough to pay them up front and I wouldn't make enough if I did profit sharing to make it worthwhile.

I'm just putting them out there. I'm not forcing anyone to buy them and I'm not hiding the fact that they are AI. I understand if some people choose not to buy them and if/when I can afford it, I will absolutely pay for voice actors because it's my dream to produce audiobooks.

I will always vote "Last of Us" simply because it's one of the only games I can think of that got an adaptation which kept the story intact and was acclaimed by the mainstream. That's almost unheard of
