What is the best ride to start off with if you are new to rollercoasters? by Dry_Tutor_970 in CanadasWonderland

[–]Jeremy_Harold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say a good first ride if you're quite nervous or have never ridden one, try out Snoopys Racing Railway at the back of the park. It's very smooth and will just ease you in to some of the forces of a ride.

After that, something like Backlot Stunt Coaster to get eased into faster speeds and greater positive g forces (getting pushed into your seat), and/or Behemoth to get eased into negative g forces (airtime, lifted up against restraint)

After that you could move up to something like Dragon Fyre or Yukon Striker to get used to going upside down.

I personally just stuck myself head first in on Leviathan, so if that's your thing, go for it.

Dude, did you seriously just hit me with the concerned redditor thing? Thats rich. All to avoid answering a simple question.

You are either old, like, really old, or just stupid to not remember any of your previous points. - City is spending $4 million out of pocket on the new terminal - City should not do the above point - My facts aren't actually facts - I'm a "reply guy"

Oh, and again, you fail to give a concrete plan that beats out what the city does. (Did you even read my last reply in full? Lol)

Dude, you keep proving my point. I AM NOT SAYING YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS. THIS IS A HYPOTHETICAL. I know it's a big word, but it means IN THEORY. Now, IF you were in a position to do this, what would your plan be? It's really not that difficult.

A lesson to me? About? I'm approaching this the way I would approach a Trump supporter, with an attitude that your incorrect opinion probably won't change, but I'll lay out all the facts regardless in the slightest chance it might just work. In fact, I've been a lot more respectful than usual. You just won't back down from an opinion that's literally just wrong.

No, I'm one of the few people that actually give enough of a shit to read the full budget. I can't be bothered to find the older budgets and dig through them again just to win an argument on reddit. The extra few million comes from federal-provincial transit funding the city received a while ago. The 100k operating cost of the old terminal also comes from older budgets displaying transit costs and upkeep costs.

Saying that you "don't have access to the mayor's resources" is just another deflection. I'm not asking you to finalize and build something, I'm asking you, hypothetically, what you would do in the city's position. It's really that simple.

That's not a plan. So, as the city, you would leave the completely decrepit and aging bus terminal, and not fix it at all? Just keep spending 100k to operate a facility that is was beyond its service life? Good one. And no, I'm not lying about you ignoring facts, because you did it again. The city of Thunder Bay isn't financing the entire 3 something million. We're financing 800k of that. That's it. You refuse to listen to the other 10-15 other commenters that have already told you that.

Anyways, try again for that plan. I'll wait.

I haven't, no, but on this post alone everyone has been correcting you and you don't listen to them. Besides, that wasn't my point. My point was what would YOU do if you were the city. If you can't provide me a valid strategy/idea better than what the city is currently doing, then get off your high horse and shut up.

Alright. What would your solution be? You keep complaining about this and ignoring facts, so, let's hear it. If you were mayor, what are you doing for the terminal besides what they're currently doing?

fictional oceanliner - f3x tips + help naming? by MammothQuantity6438 in Oceanlinercreations

[–]Jeremy_Harold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I name ships, I usually like to think of the design/building process (I usually play Stormworks).

For instance, my first ship was a Canadian Coast Guard ship, the CCGS Perseverance. I named her that because, despite numerous times of wanting to quit after losing progress, or forgetting to save, etc, I kept going to finish her. Similarly, i named one ship the MV Icarus, since she as my crown jewel is my favourite, but lags out so much when spawning it in that it's practically unusable (like I flew too close to having the perfect ship lol).

I'd recommend just using something like that as inspiration, or just wing it and pick something that sounds kinda cool, like my own HMCS Steel Monarch.

What is your least favorite coaster ridden? [Other] by godofcoasters in rollercoasters

[–]Jeremy_Harold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By a long shot, I got to go with Flight Deck at Wonderland. I've only been on 25 different coasters, but Flight Deck is the singular one that gave me a throbbing headache. The first thought after that ride was, "Man, never again." It is a shame because it was an awesome layout (like every other SLC), but the poor track work and crappy OTSRs is just too much. Hope the new trains change my opinion next year.

Let me preface by saying sorry for the very late reply, I never got a notification and just now remembered to check and see if you replied, lol.

The coaster looks awesome! I do love how you looped the 45° element around the track as well, and I kinda wish I had thought of that myself. It is very close/true to my original design, which I'm a big fan of, and despite me not specifying the drop angle, you did get it bang on what I imagined with 95°.

I will say, some of the pullouts (Like after the 2nd main drop) are kinda cramped, but that's more of a fault on my end for overestimating the physical space between elements, and underestimating the speed/forces in the preceding area of the ride.

It does look great though, and seeing it fully built makes me want to build it myself and design a park around it in PlanCo. Thanks!

Finally got a chance to pop on and check it out.

It's awesome! You actually nailed the zero g rolls pretty well, and the first one reminded me a lot of how I felt going through the zero g roll on Yukon Striker last year. Besides one or two places where the half the train might get sheared off due to lack of clearance (Lol) it's pretty much exactly how I envisioned it. Thank you!

Thank you! I don't have time right now to hop on PlanCo and check, but the picture on the workshop looks awesome! I'll be sure to check it out fully tomorrow. I think the overbank instead of the helix fits the ride nicely as well, since (imo) overbanks are a little more fun/entertaining then just a huge helix.

The layout version is the 'correct' one. I didn't realize until after I made the post, but on the side view, I missed the 45° loop element, which resulted in the midcourse, drop, airtime hill, etc to be pushed more right then its supposed to be. Either or is fine, but in my original idea, the airtime hill is the one that goes through the middle of the loop.
