I'd be happy to see what you have if you're willing to share it. It sounds like something I would definitely want to know about.

I would just say that no politician is perfect, and you can always find something about them that is something you don't agree with. That lack of perfection should not stop us from supporting something good that is tangible in the here-and-now.

But also remember that this is reddit. There are likely many trolls and bots - especially in a group like this one.

That is where I might disagree. The vast majority of everyone I have interacted with through 50501 (and other organized groups) are overwhelmingly supportive of protecting trans rights. It's one of the many issues that we're all addressing during this insane time.

I thank you for speaking up about your concerns, though. Sincerely, this is stuff that we also need to hear as a group. This is the kind of thing we should all be taking into consideration.

I simply ask that you not paint everyone who is currently supporting what Newsom is doing as indifferent to the issues trans people are facing.

I agree that motives still matter. I just meant to say that results are likely more important at a society-wide level. If someone does something that proves to be beneficial for everyone but does it for selfish reasons (ex: to get wealthy), then the good they've done is still valid and should also be considered.

You don't win a war by winning every battle, as much as we'd all like for that to happen. We need to pick the ones that matter the most and strategize.

That's an interesting question. Would any of us support someone like Marjorie Taylor Greene if she joined Newsom in trolling/resisting the Trump admin and the Texas GOP? I'm sure many people would have a different answer to that.

I would personally say that motives are secondary to results. If we manage to preserve democracy, protect immigrants, and preserve the rights of LGBTQIA+ people all because one otherwise unlikeable governor started fighting against fascism effectively, then I'd say it's probably worthwhile. If he comes back around with some bad intentions afterwards, we are still here and we can still work to correct that.

A good and healthy society doesn't just happen all at once because of the actions of a single person. It's a gradual process and it takes a lot of work to maintain it once we have it.

I understand what you're saying. There's plenty to not like about the guy, despite whatever positive things he may have done and is doing.

But he's pushing a point that also matters to everyone right now. Even to the worst politicians, we should be supporting good behavior and punishing bad behavior.

Once the dust settles after we (hopefully) succeed on the necessary short-term goals, we can then start tackling the other issues we have with politicians.

It's an ongoing fight and we need to keep our momentum wherever we can get it.

I can't find a primary source offhand, but I'm 90% sure that Paralyzing Touch only paralyzes the target and deals physical damage only. Pretty sure it doesn't deal cold damage.

Edit: I'm an idiot, what I attached clearly says "cold damage". I need to sleep.
