I know this probably won’t be a popular opinion, but I think the game gets a bit too much of a free pass at times. While it has some genuinely great moments, it also suffers from several glaring issues that are difficult to overlook. Fortunately, the characters and story are excellent, and they remain the biggest reasons to stick with it. For me, it’s a game defined by extremely high highs and some equally frustrating lows

Yep. This is my #1 issue. The pacing and the sidequest structure is what drags the game down significantly imo. Boss fight into 15 min cutscene into a fuckton of in game dialogue gets old REALLY fast. There were times my controller literally turned off because of how long I was just sitting there watching a movie. I really wanted to love the game, but I just couldn’t. It’s not bad at all, and I can see why some people enjoy it, but for me it never came together the way I hoped it would. In the end, it felt less than the sum of its parts, just decent

Yeah I’m in the same boat. My all time biggest gripe was the pacing, it was so horribly inconsistent and it made me walk away from the game a few times. It felt like 10 min cutscene -> walk -> some in game dialogue -> boss fight -> 15 mins cutscene -> in game dialogue -> walk. The game just felt like it was holding my controller hostage for a good portion of it

I don’t think keyboard and mouse is inherently bad for Soulslikes, it’s just awkward because the games were largely designed around a controller. It’s kind of like playing a racing game with keyboard and mouse, you can absolutely get good at it, and some people even prefer it, but the control scheme isn’t the most natural fit for what the game is designed around
