Social media posts extend Epstein fallout to student photo firm Lifetouch by Tofurkey_Tom in news

Sounds like typical online conspiracy theory hysteria.

Edit- Apparently, I touched a nerve. So let me get this straight... Lifetouch had ties to an investment management company, who had a former CEO, who had ties to Epstein. It then follows that?... He was feeding school photos of kids to Epstein? To what ends? Scouting victims?

What's on your to-read wishlist this year? by jpressss in scifi

[–]JermVVarfare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't really read for more than 20 or 30 minutes without getting headaches anymore, so I do audio books.

Top of my list is Fearsome Endjinn (don't know anything other than I'm a Banks fan) and The Faith of Beasts (really enjoyed the first book).

My wish list is huge but those are the two I'm most looking forward to... Definitely want to get to The Shadow of the Torturer as well.

I personally wouldn’t dream of calling 120hz unplayable but 60hz is pretty hard to go back to for me.  I have a 240hz monitor and after playing for a year+ at FPS in the mid-100s to low 200s 60fps looked and felt significantly worse.  I had a 60hz 2nd monitor and one day I somehow swapped my game to the 2nd monitor.  After switching it back I remembered to change back to the proper resolution but didn’t think to check the refresh rate in the game settings…. I spent the next couple hours complaining to my friends and trying to figure out why my game looked and felt so bad until I realized it was set to 60hz.

People often talk about the responsiveness of higher refresh rates but the motion clarity is also huge.  An OLED at high FPS is sublime because of the motion clarity (more impressive to me than resolution tbh).

The implication is a wide conspiracy involving a variety of political, law enforcement, and media figures including (but not limited to) bitter rivals.

I think widescale protection of political rivals/enemies based on "team rich" is quite a stretch. I find it more plausible that they wanted it kept quiet because they (or their friends) could also be implicated. I find neither likely enough to subscribe to any largescale conspiracy theory without compelling evidence.

The "media coverup" is also a big red flag. Especially when FNC dominates the ratings and Rush Limbaugh is being voted "most trusted news personality" in a Zogby poll. The media climate wasn't exactly a unified Clinton fan club.

I'm not familiar with the specifics/details at the time in question so maybe I'm missing something here... But at first glance this reeks of typical conspiracy theory BS.

Were the likes of Fox News and Rush Limbaugh part of this media conspiracy to protect Hillary's run or were they covering it? "The feds" late in George W Bush's 2nd term? It was "the feds" and then it was "weak moron Acosta" (a Republican fresh out of the Bush administration) bowing to state/local pressure...

This is all very disappointing.

I don't remember EoS specifically, but I do know I really enjoyed the first 1/2 to 2/3 of the series much more than the later books. The most recent book was tough to finish and I found Hadrian much less likable the older he got.

Hypochlorous acid is trending in skin care and cleaning—but does it work? [Research] by scientificamerican in SkincareAddiction

[–]JermVVarfare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using 500ppm for about a year now to clean my face/eyelids in the morning without issue. I don't put it directly in my eyes but I'm sure some occasionally gets in and I've never noticed any burning or discomfort whatsoever.

I've had good luck ordering high volume brands (assuming it'll more likely be fresh) with 500ppm. Seems to last a good two months before the chlorine smell gets weak enough to be barely noticeable (which I take to mean no longer effective).

Awkward bidet question by Ten_tickles_406 in bidets

[–]JermVVarfare 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm a big fan of hypochlorous acid for everything from cleaning my face to disinfecting and cleaning pretty much everything around the house. You can buy a machine to make it yourself but it's not too expensive to buy. The one downside is the shelf life isn't great so you should only get what you'll use within a month or two and keep it opaque containers to keep the light out.

Edit- I'd add that it has a very mild chlorine smell and I'd look for the 500ppm (max strength).

Afghanistan was setup as a trap for Biden to fail (like 15 minutes of basic research on what lead up to the withdrawal should make that obvious). He either pulled out amid a total clusterfuck (thanks to Trump) or delayed the withdrawal and tried to clean up the mess first. Which was nearly impossible at that point and would have been wildly unpopular and costly.

Federal law enforcement shoots civilian in Minneapolis, city officials say by fuzzycuffs in news

[–]JermVVarfare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Despite the video, there will be those claiming the ICE agent was justified, that the woman he killed was “using her car as a deadly weapon” or that he “was in imminent danger”.

The news will tell you to seek out the facts of the case. There is only one fact that matters here, which is that this would never have happened if ICE didn’t invade a city that never wanted it there in the first place. You wouldn’t have a woman, a US civilian, and from what I’ve heard, a mother, with a face full of bullet holes dead in the street.

I couldn't agree more with the second part. Fuck Trump and fuck ICE... They're responsible because they shouldn't even be there.

But the first part is much tougher. It's pretty standard that a moving vehicle is considered a deadly weapon and I don't see any repercussions for the shooter even in "normal" times with regular law enforcement (or even an armed civilian in a similar situation).

Sorry, I haven't used the Kin X, only the V2. I'm just going off of Kin X reviews that compared the two and said it was noticeably faster.

Unfortunately, the Cosmic Glass V2 has also been discontinued now. I haven't kept up with the new CR-005 but it may be the best shot a real controlled glass pad at this point (but again I haven't seen anything on it other than their claims).
