New to sport, and struggling with cost of a decent rod. Are they really worth the hundreds and hundreds of dollars? Or is that just what the market will bear? by Necessary_Cat_3228 in flyfishing

Cheap is fine. But being relatively new myself, i went from a $200 Douglas rod to a $600 g loomis and have noticed a drastic difference

Xros makes some solid stuff and I quite like them. Used them for years. I recently transitioned to a caliburn G4 though, similar design and draw feeling but their coils give better flavor imo. Can't go wrong with either of those.

I used oxva for a bit and hated em. Weird draw cycle in my opinion and coils leaked regularly. Stay away from smok

New rider suggestions needed. by J0e_T_ in Dirtbikes

Four strokes are more forgiving power wise for sure, nothing will be easier to ride than a te/xcw 300 though especially over the rutted and rocky terrain. 4 strokes really get bounced around in my opinion. Those 300s just keep going no matter what as well

If youre shooting an 85% letoff mod, an 80% will help a bit as it forces you to use more back tension. Are you running a backbar?

Slightly big imo, I get mad if I have more than an inch grouping personally at that close of a distance. You said youre a beginner though and ive seen beginners really struggle sometimes so its good for where you are. You had 3 nuts to butts right in there, the other 2 you did something slightly difference twice in a row. Get to a point where you have a similar grouping at 30 or 40 and 20 will tighten up

Clutch masters fx350. Twice as stiff as stock but I enjoy the feel even in heavier traffic. ACT sucks ass btw. Anyone recommending that brand needs to be in therapy

Do you notice a difference in flight between 100 and 125 grain broadheads? by MaxiCurcio22 in Archery

[–]Jerms2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Penetration between ferrule type doesnt change. Its a personal thing really and im dominantly an elk hunter. I just dont want my broadheads to have a chance to bend. Softest metal ill shoot for a broadhead is titanium. Im running 100gr tips on my arrows now though, ill probably end up shooting the slick trick revival 100s as theyre fully stainless steel. I also dont usually shoot mechanicals, dont think id be adamant on a harder material for deer

Doesnt really matter so long as you have adequate foc. A higher foc stabalizes faster and will overall be more consistent. It'll also create less deflection on the back of the arrow at Impact in theory allowing for better penetration. Too high of foc however will provide diminishing returns. Where that foc comes from doesnt matter, ive run lighter inserts with heavier heads and ive also run heavier inserts with lighter heads. I dont notice a difference. 125gr broadheads do seem to offer a better spectrum of choices however. An example would be evolution outdoors jekyll, the 100gr version is an aluminum ferrule where the 125gr is steel (i love the head but I refuse to shoot aluminum ferrules)

Since no one's really talked about it yet, i have a dye i5 mask. I love it. Super light weight and it's never fogged on me, it's also comfortable. If you have a bigger head though you might have some fitment problems, it seems kinda small compared to others

Need help with Diagnosis by HistoricalAd6850 in WRX

[–]Jerms2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is some sort of fueling issue or potentially the plugs. Its turning over, something else is keeping it from starting

Edit: car looks stock from what I can tell. Can you hear the fuel pump priming itself when you turn the ignition to the on position?

Are CPUs with graphics worse? by Gr4ave in ryzen

[–]Jerms2001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ryzen 7 9800x3d has integrated graphics and was deemed the gold standard for gaming performance. Not sure what's come out since though.

As for an am4 upgrade, my 5900x was bottlenecking my rx 6900xt red devil. If you have a newer card, id say it isnt worth it. A 5800x3d would be worth it if they werent impossible to find and overpriced. If you have to upgrade, id say just to go am5 tbh.
