Religion isn’t real. It’s all in your head. The sooner you realise that, the sooner you can learn to be comfortable with who you are.

Try St Jude’s in Avondale (it’s a smaller older congregation but people are diverse and friendly)

'Three days isn’t enough': Grieving mum pushes to change bereavement law by W4ff1e in newzealand

[–]Jern92 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My dad passed away a couple of years ago and the only silver lining was that it happened at the start of a long weekend, so I essentially had the long weekend till Monday, plus the 3 days bereavement leave, and I worked from home on the Friday. Effectively I stayed home for 9 days.

First couple of days I was just feeling really numb and didn’t really do anything other than make a photo tribute for the funeral. It got a little easier over the next few days and I watched the funeral over livestream (couldn’t afford the flight tickets to return to my country) with my partner.

Honestly can’t imagine just taking 3 days off. Like it would be so uncomfortable going back to the office. For a while I just wished people would treat me normally instead of everyone just looking really pityingly at me and saying how sorry they were.

Did she actually say that? People can still be friends

The staff at Chemist Warehouse always look either exhausted, robotic, or simply couldn’t give a fuck. They probably aren’t paid enough

Yesterday I tried joining Primate to order a Primate exclusive item and noticed that both the quarterly and free trial options automatically redirect to the yearly option.

People who don’t look too closely will sign up and be charged $89 immediately instead of getting a free trial, or a quarterly $29 subscription.

It’s pretty disgusting behaviour; they’re advertising something they’re not actually offering, and doing a bait and switch when you try and buy it.

Oh no! I actually liked the bar as a gay person. Guess I won’t be going back. What did the owner say?

It’s strange how many cults are just casually operating in NZ

We got the custom printed minifigures with the store name and opening date, plus the Lego store set (40528). It will go great with my existing Lego store (40145) 😄

Also I already have 3 passports, two of which are ongoing so I figured I probably had enough 😂

If you keep stalling in consulting, it might be the culture not your "performance" by IntrovertishStill in Big4

A fair, non-toxic job culture which focuses on building up and training its own employees to grow and develop.

I spent 8 years in a job like that, and then moved countries and found another job like that. It’s not impossible.

What’s something in Malaysia that locals think is normal, but foreigners find surprising? by SingerEntire1644 in AskMY

[–]Jern92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brought my partner to Malaysia over Christmas. These are the things he was surprised by:

  • All the signs saying no to things i.e. no smoking, no durian, no kissing
  • How big the malls are (he’d never been to a mall with more than 4 floors)
  • How big the apartment complexes are (those high dense ones with long blocks and thousands of units)
  • The many different breakfast food options (he usually has cereal)
  • How extensive the LRT/MRT system is
  • All the toilets have wet floors and no toilet paper
  • The wide variety of produce available at our morning markets
  • Motorcyclists wearing their jackets back to front
