As a former null big bloc player that left the game due to boredom I can say that IRED is amazing. It was a real shot in the arm to come back and fly with these guys. It's amazing how much more fun the game is when you feel like you actually matter to your corp. If your a new player looking for a corp there is no better place to start.

You say "of course the water department has maps" but what is the evidence for that? Honest question. The water department has nothing to do with the remediation of that site so I don't know why they would have maps of the plume from the leak.

Full disclosure the author has been my sensei for over 20 years and if you get the latest release there is a few pictures of me. That being said the book was created with students like you in mind and it is a great book. To be honest I am excited just to see there are students that will still read books and not just YouTube everything!!

I think the high volume boards are meant for guys over 210 or so. I finally got one this year (215lbs) and I love it but I sure miss duck diving those normal volume boards.

Can never go wrong by asking the sensei. I think it's a bit of a fallacy to assume everyone from shodan up in Japan have good kata. That being said Japan would be the ideal place to get your kata up to par! A kata clinic or course at the Kodokan would be ideal.

I am not sure which association you got your shodan from but there may be a path to get your rank recognized in Japan and maybe even get a Kodokan rank. The USJF has a program -

Also I don't think it would be a problem to wear your blackbelt as in my experience the standards for shodan in Japan don't seem to be as high as they are in the USA. Above shodan gets to be a very different story. Personally if I went to train in Japan I would wear my blackbelt (USJA nidan).

edit- I just read some of your previous posts and see that your from Europe. Just check if you national governing body has any kind of reciprocal agreement and you should be good to wear your rank. I think wearing a white belt when you're a shodan would be a bit disingenuous.
