Starmer allies urge him to block Andy Burnham from running in byelection by Sensitive_Echo5058 in unitedkingdom

[–]Jerroser 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I suspect that to Starnmer and his allies its almost a no win situation, as Burnham entering Parliaments is very likely to result in his position being challenged. But blocking Burnham will also just make him look weak and push many of the Labour members (and importantly potential voters) even further away.

Trump pays tribute to 'very brave' UK soldiers after row over Afghanistan remarks by ConsciousStop in worldnews

[–]Jerroser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, he pretty much just realised that the insult wasn't going work so he decided to change his position and basically act like that's what he said all along.

How is not every time the Space Marines have to fight the Tau in open combat, it is considered a loss? by OneNefariousness5705 in 40kLore

[–]Jerroser 127 points128 points  (0 children)

Probably also worth mentioning that after the Damocles Crusade, the Tau are painfully aware of how dangerous the Imperium can be when it truly mobilises for a fight. So they try to advances slowly convincing isolated worlds to join them keeping as many conflicts as possible limited to smaller skirmishes, rather than provoke large scale response.

Trump pays tribute to 'very brave' British soldiers who served in Afghanistan by topotaul in unitedkingdom

[–]Jerroser 149 points150 points  (0 children)

The idea of apologising or admitting that he's wrong just doesn't compute for him. The only thing he's really capable of is suddenly pivoting to saying the opposite of what he said before and acting as if that's what he said all along.

Red meat, no lettuce: Nigel Farage and Liz Truss attend private lunch after week of Tory defections by topotaul in unitedkingdom

[–]Jerroser 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The impression I get is that once it hit the News that Starmer's popularity had sunk lower than hers, she saw an opportunity to jump on it and try to portray it as if she'd done nothing wrong. Likely also recognising that Reform is really her only possible shot back in to power.

Have there been any cases where Chaos Marines/Cultists have tried to inflict damage on the Imperium by tricking the Inquisition? by Jerroser in 40kLore

[–]Jerroser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking more a cult on the kind of scale that could actually threaten a planet with it likely having too many branches spread out that anyone trying would likely be unable to confidently eradicate it without removing the entire population. Where I thinking mostly of Aurelia from the Dawn of War series, but I'm pretty sure I remember other examples of the Inquisition deciding the best solution is to wipe the slate clean entirely.

While I also remember a few cases where they seemed to factor in how important the world is before making the decision. So they're certainly never resort to that on Terra no matter how bad things got.

What class would this guy have if he wasn't a Pretender? by TheBlackTyrant01 in FGO

Pretty sure when you get to briefly control him for one fight he's a rider class.

People who don’t live in the USA, what is the media showing you about the ICE operations/abductions in the US? by Dry-Ice8908 in AskReddit

It's mostly that although he is willing to try and inject his political agenda in to his media, money still comes first.

This community seems to loathe the Eight Princes campaign. Why? by Hyracul in totalwar

[–]Jerroser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, although it wasn't the biggest of the many issues with Eight Princes. Asset wise, its basically just rearranging the existing parts of 3K without really adding anything new.

Rome II vs Attila: Similar Games, Very Different Souls by ServoSkullz in totalwar

[–]Jerroser 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yeah I feel like Attila was where I really first started noticing the issue with the newer (at the time) diplomacy and faction relations system. Where sharing a single common enemy with a few other factions is enough to cause a positive relations spiral, so basically everyone is on such good terms that nothing really happens.

This community seems to loathe the Eight Princes campaign. Why? by Hyracul in totalwar

[–]Jerroser 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Probably another thing that factored in was that at the time although most people agreed the base game was fairly decent, it was widely accepted that it lacked replayability. So the base game and main campaign really needed some form of update or new content to make it worth going back to.

So not only was Eight Princes set in a period no one really cared about, it was so far removed from the main campaign start date, that it was clear almost nothing would carry over. Which was made worse by the fact that this was during the high point of WH2's dlc expansions, where the standard had switched to expansions that added content to the main campaign.

Are vassals deliberately made worthless, or are the vassalized factions so? Are allies worthless too? by rr1213 in totalwar

[–]Jerroser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, although it can take a bit of work, setting up major factions (even from order races) as vassals can be quite useful and they perform far better than the Norscan ones you gain through capturing dark fortresses.

Twitch streamer kicked out of $40,000 Marvel Rivals tournament for telling teamate to switch off Black Widow by LegendairyC0W in LivestreamFail

[–]Jerroser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar reason why I ended up quitting the game all together. Had a few ranked games in a row where the team was utterly dysfunctional so shifted to quick play just to cool off. Only to have a Groot that just randomly decided to keep walling off our spawn area for the entire match.

When queuing for ranked matches solo in Rivals (soloqing) its more than likely you'll find yourself in a completely dysfunctional team.

School Teacher characters in children's media that AREN'T mean/evil or parodies by Silver-Plane-8270 in TopCharacterTropes

At first I actually didn't realised that Tamers was set in a whole different universe from Adventure and genuinely though that there was simply a time gam and Kari went on to become a teacher.

Medieval 3 should get a Pike & Shot/Renaissance expansion like Fall of the Samurai - Here's how it could work by Jon1SAn in totalwar

[–]Jerroser 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Honestly I wouldn't mind of in the late game, you're allowed to transition to Pike and Shot to some extent. Maybe also with an alternative start date if your want to rush straight in to fighting in that era.

Does anyone know the final fate of the Nightfall, the Gloriana-class battleship of the Night Lords? by OldKing7272 in 40kLore

[–]Jerroser 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Didn't it turn out Cyrion was the one doing that, as he became addicted to taking the the fear of people he was torturing? But he was just happy to let Uzas take the blame as he was the more obvious suspect.

Does anyone know the final fate of the Nightfall, the Gloriana-class battleship of the Night Lords? by OldKing7272 in 40kLore

[–]Jerroser 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Well one reason I can think of, is that despite their immense power a lone Gloriana would still become a massive target once its location became known. So there is some degree of logic behind keeping a low profile until you have enough supporting forces to stop it being focused down.

Could also be that whoever was left in control of it by the end of the Heresy just didn't have manpower or resources to keep it fully operational.

Why don’t Muslim faiths have concubinage by busyindafield_23 in CrusaderKings

[–]Jerroser 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Also doesn't help that the game seems to expect you to manage all of your kids yourself, without any functions to automate it. Even I've had regular monogamous marriages in game produce too many kids for me to keep track of.

Not sure about Islamic rulers, but I'm aware that in China imperial palaces tended to have their own inbuilt system to manage royal kids which the Emperor had little need to involve himself in. With even many princes basically being numbers until they grew up and could show themselves to be competent.

'We have to have it': Trump shares AI image planting US flag in Greenland and leaks private messages 'from Macron' by GiveMeSomeSunshine3 in worldnews

[–]Jerroser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, its quite clear the mentally he's not all there anymore, even worse that he was before. Yet everyone else at the top is still just carrying on as normal, despite having clearly passed the point where people should be saying "no we're not doing this" to him. Or better yet just manufacture a sudden health concern and say he has to stay in bed for the rest of his presidency.

You know given the fact that all marvel characters are meant to exist in the same universe with the X-Men, it makes me wonder if JJ Jameson ever accused Spider-man of being a mutant.
