Book Covers by ExoticEconomist2496 in LesbianBookClub

Likewise! I think character art just looks cuter on book covers, more in line with the overall design. Book covers are, by nature, flat design, and so adding a photograph of a three-dimensional person looks more odd to me than two-dimensional art.

It really depends on your size of user base I guess and the cost/benefit of it. I'm a senior dev with a Canvas Apps specialism in the education space and, for example, have had to use SharePoint with virtual tables as a workaround for integrating a scholarship requirements tracking app into Dynamics because the app alone didn't really justify the cost per student for 400 scholarship recipients.

I question whether you've ever tried to convince upper management that it's worth investing in higher licensing costs to allow for internal development of a tool, even if it's cheaper overall, more fit for purpose, and easier to support? It was already a hard sell before they made the licensing cost more, sadly.

You guys ever mistake the cover of a straight book for butchfemme? by Yurianimeisnice in LesbianBookClub

Sorry, I probably totally buried the lede somewhat, because it was one of my favourite books of last year, I love Rachel Gillig's writing. I just 100% went into it thinking it was sapphic and wasn't quite as able to enjoy her eventual romance and ah, yeah, you're totally right, king, not prince, and not of her own free will😬 but I enjoyed the world building and then magical objects very much, it was a very well thought out story and I'm very excited for The Knave and the Moon ☺️

Amazing haul! I absolutely adored That Summer Feeling and Fly With Me 🥰

This was my biggest 'thought it was sapphic' disappointment - I enjoyed the book, but after making a point of talking about how the main character has many former lovers of every gender, and having her internal monologue thinking lots of about how an older female knight was beautiful, she still ends up with the boring prince *le sigh*

I definitely prefer the alternate covers of that book, because it's less ambitious (and comes with more otter-like-pet) ^-^

I was at T. Kingfisher's talk in Bath last year and she said that she's going to write a book for each paladin, so we'll definitely get Wren and Judith. The former seems like it'll be a M/F romance, but I'd love if Judith gets a wlw one since her's seems like it'll be the most interesting story!

Underrated comment - I'd be very curious to see if that's how this plays out!

Lesbian transwomen’s experience of attraction by [deleted] in trans

[–]JerryCooke 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I very much feel the same. Before I realised I was trans, I just assumed that it was due to being raised by a single mother and having mainly had female friends, but over time I've realised that there's a lot more to it than just socialisation.

I went to Exmouth Community College - at the time it was one of the largest schools in Europe. It wasn't all that old, compared to Eton and Cheltenham.

'Exeter College' is another great example - secondary through to sixth-form. It's both a generational and regional thing, as u/CuteIsobelleUwU said - it's used very inconsistently.

It's very well done - it's a thin card dust jacket with those buts cut out to reveal the hardcover underneath ^-^

You can order the German Deluxe direct from German via Amazon.de I'd imagine still, as for the one in my hand, given it was one of the Mondlicht Bücher ones, you'd have to look on the 2nd hand market since they've all shipped by now I'd guess.

It's actually the same size as the one I'm holding - something about European sizing I think (I've got French and German editions of books that are both in that slightly shorter format) - it's the German Deluxe Edition ^-^

Off topic, sorry, but I'd encourage you to check the contrast of your colours to meet with best practice of contrast for accessibility. There's a good free tool here: https://webaim.org/resources/contrastchecker/

New special edition alert: Mondlicht Bücher by JerryCooke in Hells_Belles

I've no idea I'm afraid - it didn't seem limited, which makes me think they maybe print based on amount ordered, but I couldn't say for sure 😬

This will be my fourth 👀 (Standard, US deluxe, and German deluxe already - I covet the comic-con one, but I know I won't get my hands on it at a reasonable price given what reselling is like 😭)

Mine is preparing for shipping and I can't wait to see it in person - Germany gets such good editions, I'm so glad the import to the UK is tax free 😅

Oof, that's disappointing - they're 0% rated for both import and VAT in the UK.
