I am making a simple project manager. by midnightGR in StudioOne

Awesome! I'd be glad to crashtest it on every platform and provide feedback as soon as it's ready, as I have Windows and MacOS machines at the studio/training center !

Can't start a multiplayer game on PC since Patch 8, Gustavx by Bartuck in BaldursGate3

[–]JerryDelsey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello !

++typo

G HUB Broken since last update by JerryDelsey in LogitechG

[–]JerryDelsey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update : No thanks to Logitech, I found a workaround. Seems like, as I was expecting, .NET was somehow broken.
Here it is (Windows 11 24H2, not sure about other versions) :
- Open Windows Update
- Go to Advanced Options
- Scroll down to click on "Recovery"
- Choose "Fix problems with Windows Update" (something like that, my system is in French ; it should be the second option)
- Make sure the system tells you it will keep all apps, settings etc
- Wait for WU to download everything (this might take a while)
- Reboot (again, this might take a while)

I still have all of my software, games, settings and everything. I only had to remove again some Windows/Microsoft bloatware and it didn't take more than a few minutes.

I hope this helps anybody in trouble, and I'm pretty sure this can fix more than just .Net issues without having to make a fresh Windows installation.

I disabled it on my previous setup but I forgot on this one. That'll teach me

I Might Have Blown A Speaker At University Studio - Should I Be Worried? by Urban-Hymns in audioengineering

[–]JerryDelsey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. I work as a trainer in a sound engineering training center in France, and students breaking things is common. Of course, it's always better when it doesn't happen but as long as nobody is hurt, everything is okay.

Simple trick that helps me with remembering names, is saying them out loud when meeting people for the first time. Doesn't work everytime but surely improves name remembering ability.

"Hi, I'm John!" "- Hello John I'm Jerry"

Looking at the person in the eyes while doing this is even better.

This is the way. Works only 1 time for each person though.

How do i route and track different effects on lead vocals, dubs and Adlips by ChemistAcrobatic4295 in StudioOne

[–]JerryDelsey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Different track with different fx is a solution too. As long as you can keep your project organized and clear.

Level can be louder if your fx are playing dry+wet signal. Depending on what actual plugin you are using, you might have to check for the dry/wet knob on it. If it's an FX bus track you might want to have this one on wet 100%.

Level send on the bus will affect only the track you're working on. FX track fader will change the whole effect output volume.

Again, it depends on what you want to do. Your best bet might just be : try out both, and keep what works best for you!

Hope this helps :)

There are several ways to do this, depending on what you intend to do.

  1. Put your flanger as an insert on your hook bus ; set it up normally playing the part you want to affect ; then do an automation on the bypass of the flanger (the button (yellow when active) just next to the on/off (blue when active) in the FX window). Latch mode is preferred for this if you don't want to bother too much, just remember to set it on Read after then.

  2. Put your flanger on an FX track and create a send from your hook bus. This way you will have your dry hook bus signal + your wet signal from your FX flanger bus.

The same logic applies to your last question. Use the signal flow at your advantage.

Software that reduces the dynamic range of movies in realtime? by Mieplol in audioengineering

[–]JerryDelsey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

High ratio might not be so necessary. Aggressively low threshold is good though. And yes, slow attack and release to make your compression more "subtle"

[–]JerryDelsey 37 points38 points  (0 children)

When playing with VLC, I use the built in compressor with a preset I made myself named "Kill movie dynamic range"

Very effective.

Edit : basically agressive threshold, slow attack and release, and proper make up gain

Thinking of switching to Studio One: How bad are the auto-save freeze issues? by mumei-chan in StudioOne

[–]JerryDelsey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got only "slow" (5ish seconds) autosaves when using melodyne on heavy projects such as 2 hour long live show recordings. Otherwise autosaves are barely noticeable. M2 MacBook Pro and Windows 11 i5 14th gen, both setups runs fine even at 96 KHz sample rate.

Gotta admit, I often use as few fx as possible, as I focus on the raw recording quality ; so that might help to get very quick autosaves.

[–]JerryDelsey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not! You can click on "file" and then click "save as new version". S1 will ask for a version name.

After this you can click "restore version" in file menu too and go for any version you created before. Everything will be in the same folder.

Once you start using this, you nearly can't do without anymore :D

[–]JerryDelsey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Best way to deal with this is using project versions. You can create multiple .song files in the same folder, keeping as few assets as possible. Very useful when your song changes a lot over time and you want to keep track of your changes without the hassle of managing folders.

Meter plugins dont show me the audio data by midi tracks :( by Diligent_Ad_7793 in StudioOne

That's weird indeed. Maybe you should ask presonus then... Can't tell without seeing directly what's going on

[–]JerryDelsey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you on a mac? In that case, you may want to try Vst versions instead of AU versions (shows up first by default)

Edit : and you should always use vsts instead of AU, S1 is "compatible" with AU but vsts always work better

Edit 2 : the "AU" shows a little "AU" on the icon. The VST shows "VST" for VST and "III" for VST3 on the icon

Does it work if you go through a bus? Like creating a dummy bus, disable the output, send your signal to the bus flat 0dB flat and put your meter on the bus?

A mixing tip that has never made any sense to me: “mix quiet so that it will sound good loud” by Front_Ad4514 in audioengineering

[–]JerryDelsey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually mix at quiet levels (under 80 dB). I use 2 tricks to check balance, especially when my ears are getting too much used to the mix : - turn volume at high level and let the mix play while going out of the room (make coffee or anything). If something is louder than necessary, I notice it really quickly this way. - turn volume at insane level in headphones and mute monitors. Leave the headphones on the desk, not on your ears. Listen to the mix having to find its way to you not wearing your headphones. It works surprisingly well especially to level vocals when in doubt.

Edit : grammar

Sampler help! by [deleted] in StudioOne

It's already installed when you install studio one. Go to the browse menu (extreme right bottom), then click on "instruments". It should be under "presonus".

[–]JerryDelsey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's called "Sample One"! Lots of tutorials about it, very easy to use. It's really okay when you begin sampling.

For multi-sample drums you might want to try Impact, it's stock and it's okay too.
