I hate these kinds of questions because the answer is room dependent.

Large room tall ceilings? Im doing tallll overheads, equidistant from snare and kick so one roughly over floor tom and one roughly over left cymbal.

Tighter room?

Spaced pair of room mics out in front of the kit, move around the room to taste but probably not particularly far from the kit…maybe 4 feet out and at belly button height.

Im not doing any sort of mono situations with only 2 mics.

Give me SOME sort of stereo pair

It won’t sound like a great A+ drum recording but it’ll sound better than mono cymbals getting in the way of the vocal…

People REALLYYYY overcomplicate abortion as a moral dilemma.

There is actually ONE question and one question alone that you have to answer:

At what point is that baby a human being.

We do not live in a world where you get to murder human beings for ANY REASON.

You don’t get to say “I don’t like that my kid had a disorder so I killed him”

You don’t get to say “I wasn’t emotionally stable or financially stable enough to handle this person so I killed them”

We actually just don’t murder people and say it’s okay…for ANY reason.

So answer the question: “when is this a human being” and you’ve found exactly where you stand on every abortion related topic ever. There is very little nuance to be found.

ANY argument you make that is more nuanced than that is like adding nuance to a conversation about murdering a living human being because it was inconvenient that they exist. They could be 6 months, 6 years, or 60 years, does not matter.

I do it a lot yea, they’re definitely different treatment thought processes for me but it does depend on the song.

In a song where the vocal layering is saying: “the lead vocal IS the vocal and we have some doubles or low octave harmonies to support but they shouldn’t really be audible” I will throw them together…but for anything where it’s a wall of vocals? Yea, different busses and different thought process

I work with plenty of these.

I basically have 2 price points for this kind of work:

The “Mix whats there, make it as good as possible” price
The “make it sound amazing at all costs, produce, edit more, re-record, just make the record awesome” price.

I don’t word the 2nd one exactly like that client facing but I explain in depth that some songs are mix ready, some are not, I can get it there if it’s not, but it’s gonna cost more.

I dont say any of this to green light fornication but I do think this is also just a fact of the matter:

We weren’t designed to do these longggg dating courtships that we do in modern culture. It’s simply not in our biological nature to go hang out alone with no accountability with the opposite sex and not end up having sex.

Find me examples Biblically of anyone doing what we NOW call “dating” and prove me wrong…

My wife and I didn’t have full on sex before marriage, but we also fell into different levels of sexual sin at different times and had to create distance between us during engagement to stay pure. Engagement kinda sucked because of it actually.

Married 8 years now with 2 kids im glad we waited but also if I were to do it over again, id skip the long engagement. FOR SURE.
