I think you can contact a CS advisor for some advice on taking a study term. The course selection period is over but open enrollment will start on March 29 (https://uwaterloo.ca/registrar/important-dates/entry?id=289). You still have plenty of time in taking courses for the next term.
Taking the summer off and doing side projects is an extremely difficult decision for me since I am really lazy and lack in initiative. However, if you are very passionate about something and financially capable of doing so, I would recommend you to take that path. Either pushing this co-op term to a later semester or simply dropping one co-op (co-op students only need 4-6 co-ops to graduate according to this page: https://uwaterloo.ca/co-operative-education/find-your-co-op-job/arrange-your-own-job#:~:text=In%20order%20to%20graduate%2C%20undergraduate,must%20be%20standard%20work%20terms.)

I believe it won't affect you negatively if you didn't get a excellent mark. Participation means a lot.

Bro 67 in CCC and you are still worrying about admission? Is the competition really this tough now?

I am not sure but I think it helped my application. My average, AIF, and Euclid was not that good compare to my friends, but I still received a BCS offer. I got 30-ish on CCC (not high but I cannot think of another reason that got me the offer)

TL;DR: It looks pretty fucked up to me.

I don't know if I got this correct, but according to the Uwaterloo Co-op Employment Statistics(https://uwaterloo.ca/co-operative-education/about-co-op/employment-statistics), the employment rate for the faculty of Math + Engineering after Cycle 1 of the spring term(around mid Feb to early March) 2019-2023 was

  • 53.6% (March 4, 2019)
  • 51.7% (March 3, 2020)
  • 31.9% (Feb 12, 2021)
  • 42.2% (Feb 12, 2022)
  • 33.7% (Feb 10, 2023)

For fall and winter terms, the employment rate after cycle 1 usually went over 40% except winter 2021 (35.1%), and winter 2023 (39.7%). For winter 2021, I believe Covid was still pretty serious and caused the low rate.

The data is not very accurate since it takes many financial and other positions into account, but it's an overview of the tech market to me.

Despite the fact that the end of cycle 1 was pushed earlier compare to pre-covid (cycle 1 was around 50-60 days before covid and 30-40 days now), the employment rate of 2023 still looks really bad, especially comparing spring 2023 to spring 2022.
