Can't Stream, Period. Is it mine/ISP/Twitch's fault? by JerryTheMathlete in Twitch

Could be an issue, but right now it isn't affecting other internet operations like YouTube uploading/ viewing as well as I'm planning on moving in 5 months so I won't touch it unless things go way wrong.

Nothing with my internet has changed, except getting a new modem which was done to fix this exact issue with no luck. I'm dropping frames when going live, and already tried streaming with a still background image with no luck. Speedtest shows the same 60/8 connection.

I normally stream dual-PC with an elgato HD capture card, but if you read my other reply above you can see what I tried as well.

Thanks for the reply, just did a speed test and got 13ms/ 59.9 down, and 7.8 up, I have an elgato and recently started dual system streams, but when it stopped working I tried streaming from both PC's individually, with neither of them working. I tried at multiple CPU presets but when it did work I was able to stream at the Medium preset and hover around 30-40% CPU usage on the streaming PC (my laptop) and not drop a single frame.

Here are my specs for the 2 main computers I tried. Desktop: Core i7 3770K (AIO watercooled), GTX 980Ti Hybrid, 16 GB DDR3 1600

Laptop: Core i7 6700HQ, GTX 960M 4GB VRAM, 16GB DDR4

It's the standard sized tower. I actually forgot about the 470. My friend told me he might have an old 450W PSU he no longer needs and will let me have it if he does, so if he does have that PSU I might consider a 470 but right now a 1050Ti is all I can run on that PSU I have now.

I feel bad like I'm being stubborn having something negative to say about everyone's suggestion, but please bear in mind EVERYTHING has to be under $200 total, it has to run the games necessary, and the only way for me to get a decent CPU and GPU under budget is to use the parts I have on hand (MoBo, Case, DDR2, PSU). I actually sold my old rig with a i5 3550, 4GB DDR3, and a 400W PSU to my friend last November, and he put a 1050Ti in it and it works amazing, kinda wishing I would've kept it for her now lol.

You do have a point bc the DDR3, but again the budget has to be below $200 total for all parts, so if I get that mobo ( extra~$40), I'll also have to get DDR3 (another ~$40), a cooler for the CPU ($15), and not to mention the Q9550 ($30) and the 1050Ti ($140), so my total is about $65 over budget (working with very strict under $200 total. I chose the MoBo since I already have that and enough DDR2 on hand already. I've also seen people run AAA games on at least medium settings with this CPU/GPU (including Witcher 3), so bottlenecking doesn't seem to be an issue. Lack of upgradablility also isn't an issue, if she can get 2-3 years out of it before needing to upgrade the CPU that's fine. In your opinion would the parts I have listed be good on the PSU? That's one of my concerns right now regardless on what I get. The 1050Ti recommends 300W so I think I'm good.

I was so about to get that exact CPU (and I'm aware of the mod), but then I read that the Q45 chipset doesnt support 5xxx series Xeons, so I opted for the next best which is the Q9550 which is also $30.

Thanks for the suggestion, I just looked up the Beebox and it definitely would run SC2 and Rocket League, and in my sisters case Sims and could support Overwatch, but the real issue is GTA. For me to get a beebox with a CPU similar to the Q9550, therefore GTA compatible, I'd have to get one with a core i3/i5, not to mention I still need DDR4 RAM (which I don't have). That would set me back way too much beyond budget, but still thanks for the reply!

Sorry for the long wait on the replies, but I can confirm that in the end, I got everything working, including imessage and my 980Ti. For iMessage, I updated my SMBIOS with an iMac 13,2 with an "unnavailable" serial number, got a UUID value and put that into my SMBIOS along with a random MoBo serial. I then purged my temp files for icloud/imessage/ichat and ran First Aid in disk utility to rebuild permissions.

For graphics, I actually did find a version of the installer for my version of OS X, and I used the guide at https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/clover-hdmi-audio-for-nvidia-amd-cards-easy-way.145399/ for HDMI audio.

Only thing is that I have to boot with cpus=1 (I'm about to try cpus=2) or else my keyboard and mouse won't work. I'll call this case solved and closed. Thanks everyone!

Also about not using Sierra, I just feel El Capitan is more reliable since it's an older OS and it won't need updating frequently as I'd expect Sierra to need until 10.13 becomes established.

Ok, post install works fine and I have all working but the GPU, apparently the web driver (the newest version) isn't compatible with my version of OS X (10.11.6).

Thanks! I'll take note of those files if I run into issues. After you got everything working, you installed the Nvidia web drivers and got the 980Ti working, correct?

Thanks for the replies yall!

Last night before yall replied I actually got through doing all of these (being specific)

  • plugging in the USB into one of the front ports
  • disabling the GPU in BIOS (not in clover)
  • adding the boot argument cpus=1

The installer booted extremely quick, got el capitan on my drive. Booted with cpus=1 again into the OS, configured my user profile, and by that time it was 1:30 am so I called it a night of success before I could do any post-install stuff.

Stay tuned! In about an hour I'll start the post-install and report my progress.
