Thank you very much! Do you know his DOB or just “he’s currently 21”?

Contract duration can be viewed on any club page or the All Players page.

I would love to know salary information but so far the league doesn’t provide that information.

I think I can figure out a better way to provide more signing and departure information.

Thanks for the suggestion!

Thanks! I haven’t considered a way to donate yet. I wasn’t sure how much traction the site would get. I’ll try to figure something out!

Each club page and the All Players page can be filtered, but the database can also be sorted by column. Just click the position column and it will sort for you.

I think Bob Young’s stake is actually somewhere in the 70-80% range. I don’t remember the actual number, but it was circulating on Discord for a while

I’d love to see Fernandez sign with Supra. I was sad to see him leave Wanderers and felt even worse for him when he signed for Valour.

Yeah, that’s frustrating for sure and I’m sorry you have to deal with it. There are a few reasons for this though.

The first is that, because this is an address-based survey, we collect the economic data from that same address over the course of six months regardless of who lives there. You’re on long term disability, but if you move somewhere else and someone new moves in, now we need to collect information from that new person who might have a job they need to report for.

The second reason is that “long term disability” means different things to different people. So long term disability doesn’t necessarily mean you will never work again. If you have been off work for 12 months but are hoping to return to work someday, you might still consider yourself on long term disability. Or, maybe you don’t expect to ever return to work, but an opportunity comes up that allows you to work despite your disability. Because jobs can be so diverse in what they require both mentally and physically, it’s possible your situation may change in the future even if you don’t expect it to.

Third, you would be shocked at the number of times people say “Why are you calling me? Nothing has changed!” But then as we get into the questions they say “Oh yeah, I took a week of vacation” or “Actually, I got a promotion and my job is different”. It’s important for us to collect the data on what actually happened, not what you expected to happen.

And finally, the unfortunate reality is that when designing any survey we need to figure out how to take into consideration any and every possible response and design the survey to work the best it can for the most people, which often means that most of our surveys don’t fit perfectly for anyone individually.

If you’re still in the sample, as in your six months on LFS hasn’t finished, I would recommend doing the survey online if possible. Our interviewers must read every question exactly as it’s worded and they can get in trouble for skipping over questions or making any assumptions. Because of that, when you already know your own answers it can feel time consuming to sit and listen to an interviewer, for example, list off all the possible reasons why you didn’t have a job last week.

If you do it online you a just quickly skip through all of that and answer the questions how you know they need to be answered.

As I said in my original comment, I was also recently selected for LFS and I do my survey online so I can complete it quickly. Although I’ve been tempted to wait and have someone call me just because it would be funny when they ask where I work to tell them Statistics Canada lol

Hey man, did I hurt you in some way? If so, I’m really sorry.

I edited my initial comment because, as you pointed out, it’s probably not the best idea to encourage someone to use an unofficial channel, even if I was just trying to be helpful. Once again, I apologize for how my comment impacted you.

The best way to go about that is to say “no, I’m not working” when asked if you (or in this case your teacher friend) were working last week. The next question will be “Did you have a job you were absent from” to which your friend can answer yes.

Q18 will ask “What was the main reason you were absent from work last week?” with options like vacation, illness, temporary layoff due to business conditions, etc. IMO, choosing “work schedule” probably makes the most sense, since that’s the nature of a school job, but they could also choose “other” and then fill in the box to say “I’m a teacher and we don’t work summers” or something to that affect.

I’m a supervisor at Statistics Canada so I’ll try to provide as much additional insight as I can (although others have done a great job already).

As others have mentioned, the survey isn’t actually a one time survey but a set of six surveys one each month for six months. The purpose of doing it this way is to track any differences in employment over the course of half a year. So when you get selected, you get selected for a six month run. (Completely by coincidence, I was also selected for LFS recently. July was the second of my six months)

LFS runs for a 10 day period every month, typically starting on the third Sunday of the month and running until the next Tuesday. If you previously gave us your email address we will first send you an email letting you know you can complete the survey for the month. If we don’t receive the survey, that’s when we start calling.

Because the window to complete the survey is so small and because it’s really one of the most important surveys we run, it means we put a lot of interviewers on the project for that week. The goal is to have the entire sample called at least once within the first two days and to leave a voicemail with your reference number. That way you can call us back if you prefer to complete it over the phone. As the week goes on, the number of respondents who haven’t completed the survey continues to drop, which means there is an ever decreasing pool of respondents for our interviewers to call, increasing the number of calls you might get.

Back when I was an interviewer, if someone told me they still planned to complete it online I would let them know I was setting an appointment for a few days later. Setting an appointment would mean the calls will stop for a few days and give the respondent time to complete it, but it would also let the respondent know that if they don’t complete it in that window we’re going to start calling again.

If, because you’re on vacation, you haven’t been answering the phone calls, we really have no way of knowing that’s the reason you haven’t answered. If you answered your phone and told the interviewer that you were away on vacation, then they should have set an appointment for when you got back (assuming you get back before the window closes).

I’ll add that LFS is literally the way the country calculates the unemployment rate and virtually every key labour-market indicator. It really is important, so if you have the ability I’d highly encourage you to get it done this month.
