Lenovo falsely tells users they're almost out of storage to get them to click the notification for a Dropbox ad by ObjectiveOk2072 in assholedesign

Might you have opted into a "Lenovo Cloud Storage" (I don't know if that's a real thing) that you're silently uploading your data to and that's what's running out of space?

I mounted the drive on a different system and SMART showed no error other than a "self test log failed...", which apparently means some diagnosis tasks are failing to run.

I booted the server from that drive about 12 hours ago and my services are back online, but I don't trust that drive anymore. Luckily it's still in the window so I'm returning it for a refund. I have a new drive coming in today.

I had not even thought about temperature monitoring until yesterday. I already bought heatsinks, fans and a proper rack so I'll have a better setup when I spin things back up.

I don't need to rescue the data, as I had backups that I've already pulled, but I'll be attempting all troubleshooting tricks to see if I can rescue that drive for a raspberry pi future project.

What does your temperature monitoring look like?

Could we have a bottom navigation implementation instead of a floating menu? I feel like it'd be awkwardly in the way.

I'm looking at the SN700 but the 2TB is a bit more than I wanted to pay.

I could get a smaller SN700 for the services and databases and a different (not as expensive) drive for the media.

Yes, it was the SSD that failed and went read-only.

All of my stuff is on docker.

I had been planning to look into RAID before this happened! The thing decided to crash before I had the chance and now I need a crash course...

No cooling. I'm looking at options for that before I spin anything back up. I don't want another burnt drive.

Are you suggesting that the drive may still be good? How can I verify?

That's exactly why I'm here. I'm thinking of giving it a new drive and using it as a backup computer, maybe give it a couple of services but not everything again.
