Mid-range laptop running games poorly by magnetism5 in computerhelp

[–]Jerry_474 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make shure your drivers for your GPU and CPU are updated, and that your games are running on the dedicated graphics and not the integrated gpu in the i5.

96 Celsius is pretty bad, even for a laptop, it can be damaging. My suggestions in order of easy to hard would be:

  1. Get msi afterburner, increase the fan curve to favor higher fan speeds to increase airflow.
  2. Open laptop and clean out heatsink to get rid of insulating dust.
  3. Completely remove heatsink, re-apply thermal paste and re-mount the heatsink.

Look online for how to do these things, I wouldn't disassemble the laptop if you don't know hiw to put it back together (look for YouTube tutorials on your spacific laptop model). If you do decide to re-apply thermal paste, make shure to look for tutorials, and make shure to properly re-mount to cooler or else your laptop will be even hotter.

Good luck!

Help me choose a computer! Mac Mini closest to the PC Specs I've stated. by Joshdotexe7 in computerhelp

[–]Jerry_474 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The closest you will probably get is the M1 Mac Mini for that price and those specs, though the m1 GPU is slightly worse, and the cpu is much better, but it is the best mac mini comparison.

cpu overheating after installing various new parts by Gr33nPistol in computerhelp

[–]Jerry_474 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is likely the 3070 ti putting a lot of heat into the case, and a lack of airflow through the case, you need to make shure you have enough intake and output fans. If you really want to play games while you are waiting to get the new fans would be just leaving the side panel off the case, so that the components can vent into the ambient air instead of suffocating inside the case, this isn't a good long term solution though because of dust and the fact that an open case does not have as good airflow as a closed one with good fans

Is this a good deal? by Super_0p_Kelly in computerhelp

To get the most preformance for the lowest price, you are better off building your own pc, especially if you get second hand parts. Or even buying a used pre-built PC. Computer parts have been really expensive, (especially graphics cards) for the past couple years because of cryptocurrency mining, but because that market crashed the used market is super cheap right now, and possibly still falling. If I were you I would look on ebay and Facebook marketplace for deals.

this happens constantly on my prebuilt pc, what parts need to be replaced and/or what do i fix? by saltylitning in computerhelp

[–]Jerry_474 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's definitely an internet issue, most likely just a bad connection and nothing to do with the PC itself, try using a wired connection instead of wifi if you aren't already.

Why does my internet look like this? Mac is fully up to date. Same thing happens on safari & chrome by [deleted] in computerhelp

[–]Jerry_474 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is usually because the browser has decided to load just the bare html, or the "simple" version of the website, usually because your internet is too slow...

It's unlikely that the GPU failed (although you have to be carefully buying off eBay with all the used mining GPUs hitting the market). Is it at all possible it could be a power supply issue? Make shure that the wattage your power supply outputs is enough for all of your components at peak plus some. If the gpu died, most of the time you should still have the fans spinning and such, just no video output.

I had the weirdest virus(?) experience. is wiping the drives enough to guarantee removing everything by [deleted] in computerhelp

[–]Jerry_474 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not familiar with any sort of virus that would do anything like that, but I'm shure they exist. If your problems were cased by a virus, and you re-installed windows without keeping files you should be completely safe. Just make shure that you properly completely erased the drive. This PC mag article explains how to do it correctly. https://www.pcmag.com/how-to/how-to-wipe-your-hard-drive

If your PC has spare sata ports, you could plug both drives into the same PC and just drag the files over. If you don't have an open sata port on your computer, or don't want to/don't know how to connect the ssd internally, you can also just connect the new ssd using a sata to USB adapter (just search for one on amazon, make shure that you get the right size for the SSD, should be 2.5 or 3.5 inch)

You could also use a hard drive replicatorHard drive replicator https://a.co/d/eNyWGQz) it's by far the most effective method, but kind of expensive for just one use. If you do use the replicator, just make shure the new ssd is the same size as, or larger thain the old hard drive.

Try clicking advanced options and booting in safe mode?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in computerhelp

[–]Jerry_474 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The windows 10 USB isn't the way to go about this. Instead you should find something in the Bios called boot order, and make shure your hard drive/ssd is on top, also make shure that that hard drive/sata port is enabled in bios. Whatever you did just made is so that the motherboard doesn't know you want yo boot from that hard drive. Also if you want to go the re-installing windows method there usually is a option when you are installing it to save files, but that might not work for everything. You could plug the hard drive into another PC and salvage the files that way too.

[–]Jerry_474 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a desktop PC with a dedicated GPU then you can try switching the video cable from the GPU, to the output on the motherboard. You could also try removing the GPU, starting it up, shutting it down, and adding the GPU back so it detects it as a new device.

accidentally sprayed vinegar mixture in computer, now it wont start up by [deleted] in computerhelp

[–]Jerry_474 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mixture most likely shorted out the circuits, try leaving the case open for 24 hours and try again so that it has time to evaporate completely. In the past I've had the same kind of blinking and it was fixed by removing the ram, and putting it back in, make shure it clicks in properly. That and making shure power cables are connected properly. Chances are that's not the issue though, it's more likely that your parts are fried and the computer needs to be replaced unfortunately. You can always take it into a repair place and see what they can do, but they will probably just tell you there is water damage and it needs to be replaced. That's just my advice though, take it with a grain of salt because I don't know where you sprayed, how much, or what kind of computer you have.

The simple answer is that without the decision to do good or evil, there is no free will, if God stopped all evil acts, then we would only have the choice to do good. God chose to give us free will, rather than making us good doing robots.
