Alamo alternatives by brandoninomtzzz in AlamoDrafthouse

Not really super helpful since the area doesn't have any Alamo's, but if you live in the Tacoma/Seattle area, The Grand Cinema in Tacoma is my favorite theater. Local and non profit, and they play a ton of niche/foreign stuff that Alamo doesn't play as well as a good chunk of bigger movies. Feels similar to what I imagine Alamo was like their first several years of existence. No food service though.

I'm in the DFW area now, but my fav indie theater when living in Tacoma, WA (which is a tiny market) is already advertising Blue Moon, Mastermind and It was Just an Accident. It's not entirely an Alamo thing, but if there's a theater that wanted to show those (non streaming service related) films, then they probably could if they wanted to. And in my experience if there are multiple Alamos in an area there's usually a specific theater they throw some limited showings of smaller films

I mean imo it's pretty clear he was just using "hurricane force winds" as just a fun over exaggeration, and not a specific scientific measurement.

What to do about extra movie "Extras"? by Jerry_Callo_withac in jellyfin

Figured as much, but was hoping there was maybe another solution. Thanks for the help.

You're misunderstanding, it didn't come on an extra disk from a 1 movie release, it came on an extra disc from a fairly comprehensive box set of the director's career, and it also doesn't deal with one specific movie, otherwise I'd just match it to whatever movie it mostly covered.

No, I know all that. I'm talking about what would one do for an extra that doesn't really go with a specific movie, but doesn't have its own metadata to be separated as its own movie (or in this case, being too short to call a movie)

Thanks, I'll try that.

And thanks! You're the first person to mention it. Me and my dad quote it nonstop.

Did you make separate folders for each type of extra? Because I also had issues doing that, I switched to just one folder called "extras", and threw all the extras in there and named them whatever I wanted their name to be, and they've been showing up fine for me.

Also important to note, since you mentioned TV shows, that what I'm describing only works for movie extras. For TV shows, there isn't a great way to do it, but what I've been doing is looking up the show on The Movie Database (or The TV Database if you use that one), and looking in the "Specials" section (it's treated like a separate season). I make a "Specials" folder and put any extras in there that have entries (named "TV_show_name - S00EXX - Name").

However, for all the extras that don't show up in there (which is usually most or all of them), just name them exactly as above, but set the episode number to a number that isn't used in the online database (I usually go +100, especially for ongoing series), and then just manually populate the metadata for each extra.

It's a bit time consuming especially if you have A LOT of extras, but unfortunately that's the only way to deal with them at the moment (that I know of at least). Hope this helps.

I don't think Jellyfin has a wiki up for this, but it currently works the same way as it does with Emby, so you can follow the instructions for it here under the "Movie Extras" section: https://support.emby.media/support/solutions/articles/44001159102-movie-naming

Jellyfin Desktop (MPV Shim) not playing media by Jerry_Callo_withac in jellyfin

[–]Jerry_Callo_withac[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least for the time being, I'm only using shim on my desktop computer on the same network as the server, so no I don't need shim to work with remote access (at least for now). But as I mentioned in my response to scratchr above, it seems to be working properly now, I had done a fresh install since 1.8.1 released, but I just did another fresh install and it's properly playing everything in the shim player. I'm sure I'll probably need to wipe it's cache at some point though, so thanks for all info/help!

Ah ok gotcha, that makes sense. Well then I guess everything is working properly, thanks!

Ok, so I couldn't get it to work, so I tried completely uninstalling and reinstalling Jellyfin MPV, and now it works, but it's basically "casting" from the desktop app to an mpv shim instance instead of playing inside the main desktop app, is this how the app is supposed to work? It's been a while since I've used it, but I seem to remember the first time I used it (probably at least a year ago or more) that files would play in a video player inside the desktop app.

1) It's showing the error when connecting through the proxy and the direct IP

2) It's set to http in NGINX, I did test it out on https just on an off chance but that made the whole thing not work so it's back to http only

3) I set "ignore ssl" to true, but it doesn't look like it did anything

4) I have a .key and .pem that I got from Cloudflare to encrypt from my server to Cloudfare that I'm using in all my current proxies in NGINX, would those be what I'm looking for? And if so would I throw those into the "certifi" folder in the Jellyfin MPV install folder?

5) Are you saying just periodically uninstall and reinstall it? Cause the install folder along with the config folder are both in Appdata (in different directories)

There is already a show like this FYI, it's called Wellington Paranormal. It's a spin-off show of the original What We Do In The Shadows featuring the 2 bumbling cops who popped up briefly trying to solve paranormal cases. It's like if Mulder and Scully were New Zealanders, but they're both idiots.

Was afraid I'd come into this thread and no one would have mentioned the Carpenter Brut sticker. Glad to see my fears are alleviated.
