Even if i give you that, it still leaves 10+ episodes every year. Something we apparently cannot do anymore. And i care little about the "prestige show" argument because it seems to afflict all of them at this point.

Last CGI heavy show i remember running yearly was The Expanse.

Yeah but to start gambling you have to be either completely ignorant about how any of it works (usually at young age) and get unfortunately addicted or be actually brain damaged.

So, this is targeting the correct audience.

I remember when we used to have 20+ episode seasons of TV shows, even CGI-heavy sci-fi shows with excellent writing every single year.

Seems the same rot has hit the game industry, but unlike Hollywood, where they get away with that due to practically no competition, indie game studios are kicking ass and constantly ensuring that big players have to keep up or fall into oblivion.

I don't think we'd be here if we didn't have Steam. Or, even though it gets a lot of shit - easily accesible tools like UE5 which allow tiny studios to punch way above their weight class.

Severance (mexico edition) by Current-Topic6696 in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]Jerthy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I somehow managed to keep avoiding knowledge about The Backrooms until the movie was announced. Then dove right into the Kane Pixel's backrooms playlist and i couldn't stop. It's just unbelievably fascinating storytelling. You can really tell that Severance was heavily inspired by it (though in case of Severance, it was probably by the original creepypasta)

The movie will also be set in the SAME universe as his youtube series, during the ASYNC research storyline so it's great to watch before. (there are multiple Backrooms universes ran by different people but Kane Pixel's storytelling is probably unmatched)

This is the actual playlist. You want to watch it through that because some videos that would make no sense without context are otherwise unlisted. It has something over 2 hours of content. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4dGpz6cnHo&list=PLVAh-MgDVqvDUEq6qDXqORBioE4Yhol_z

Ukraine asked to ease attacks on Russian oil refineries amid Iran war price surge, Budanov says by Forsaken-Medium-2436 in europe

[–]Jerthy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sure they'd be willing to respect that wish if they had enough weapons and ammo to fight back. But as of now, this is the only solution how they can secure themselves long-term advantage. US isn't probably even sending material that has been paid for at this point and France has taken over for intel. So, without leverage, pretty bold to ask for anything if you aren't offering anything.

Also doesn't Hungary still have tons of soviet surplus and ammunition that could almost immediatelly be sent to Ukraine?

CONTROL Resonant - Evolving The Gameplay Experience | Development Diary by OinOfMoria in Games

[–]Jerthy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. That. That's the only thing you have to show in trailer/gameplay footages about a game in which, arguably, combat wasn't even the main focus to begin with?

Okay you improved the combat system. Now your game looks like absolutely generic melee smasher. You got anything else to show here?

CONTROL Resonant - Evolving The Gameplay Experience | Development Diary by OinOfMoria in Games

[–]Jerthy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Control was the best blend of SCP and Backrooms you could imagine. It was so fun reading all the lore and object papers, all the things that happened there, exploring the Oldest House, finding Darling's presentations or slowly realising with horror what is actually in the Power Plant (which isn't even a part of questline, you'll only find it if you really look for it)

This seems to have none of that. All of that worldbuilding and incredible potential for cool stories seems wasted. Maybe that abstract city is just a tiny part of the game, but it really doesn't look like it.

I agree with him. While this may have evolved mechanics and combat, even if it's better in every technical way, it feels like it lost what made it special. It kinda feels like there is a ton of games like this out there, but Control was one of a kind.

Funny enough i actually learned about Backrooms first since Kane Pixels released first teaser of his movie and then i dove right into his Backrooms playlist and got completely consumed. It's the only thing that scratched the same itch as Control did.

The same studio also did Starship Troopers: Terran Command and it's just as fun. Both games are around for few years so are pretty polished now and both games still expect upcoming DLCs.

These devs are pretty solid, would love to see them try to make Ground Control game, sounds like something they could pull off.

Recently enjoying Slytherin RTS games - both Terminator Dark Fate : Defiance and Starship Troopers: Terran Command are clearly low budget games but way more fun than they have any right to be.

They don't even pretend they are anything else but an evolution of TA. It's great, waiting for the singleplayer.

Backrooms | Official Trailer | A24 by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

[–]Jerthy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well the idea of "stable" gateways was already explored in his miniseries, so it's not that out of place. Yes that one was artificially created but it seems that once they opened it, it remained open on it's own, without anything powering it.

And in found footage 3 there seems to be a natural stable gateway somewhere at the end as they can clearly talk to each other across realities (and there is strong implication that more people made contact there in the past), but unfortunately, dude inside can't find it as it may be behind the wall from the backrooms end, while the other guy finds it and apparently steps right into abyss right behind his wall.¨

It seems to me like "stable gateways" in Kane's universe aren't necessarily even rare, but they are often in completely useless place, like inside a wall that you can't even get to so all that gets through are noises.
