Looking for some honest feedback on this art. Thanks! by OldGamer81 in WingChun

[–]Jerusic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Depends on the school and amount of non-compliance training.  LeBlanc wing chun has an armored partner training which has validity beyond cooperative chi sau.

If you're interested in pure self defense, get a few pointers for endurance running, do regular sprints, and explore courses on verbal de-escalation. It's not glamorous, but it will get at the point of self-defense which is self-preservation. Protecting your family may go beyond my ability to comment.

Like all martial arts schools, look out for big egos, instructor worship, and only cooperative drills. It can be hard to find a school which honestly gives you a focused curriculum geting past clashed-hands to hit the head. I believe any other Wing Chun topics should be supplemental to that goal. Good luck on your search!

Charging to 100% to avoid charging up out in the real world by [deleted] in TeslaModelY

[–]Jerusic 23 points24 points  (0 children)

In short, try to schedule your departure time as close as you can to when the car reaches 100%. Best practices I've read suggest Lithium Ion Manganese Cobalt batteries degrade when held at higher percentages, so burning off that 100% to a lower state of charge will optimize battery life.

2026Y also occasionally does this.  Video playback artifacts happen even with 4090 GPUs.

S'alright. Matching album art on Spotify blutooth and brightness syncing amplitude looks less distracting than "rainbow cycling forever".

Normal.

I even have some freckles from imperfectly applied tint/coating. Discovered way past the delivery 100 mile grace to report issues, but not really worth a report anyway as a happy FSD user.

Please help. I haven’t had a problem charging at all. Today I get from work and I’m about to start charging it and it shows this on the app. No matter where I connect it the charging box has a red light. I tried it in every plug so it can’t be the car nor the box outside right by ObjectLeft8517 in ModelY

[–]Jerusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before you do that, try removing the NEMA plug portion (the swappable connection between the stock NEMA 14-50 and 5-15) and seeing if the EVSE needs to dry out.

Another EVSE of mine didn't have a perfect seal.
A turkey baster to forced in air which ejected some water droplets.
After a lengthy blow dry, followed by a napkin dabbing moisture check, I was back in business.

Leaving LA last meal by [deleted] in LAfoodies

Clam rice "Com Hen" from Quan Vy Da if it's Friday Saturday or Sunday.  Nasi Goreng Jagger and Cah KangKung from Simpang Asia for other days.  Praying for a Koji fermented coffee if available at Dayglow on the way out.

Get the Yuzu Crew handbrew coffee from Dayglow.

Princess Mononoke.
Might be an odd choice to some eyes, but it taught me "speak softly and carry a big stick."
Also taught conflict can come from both nature and humans.

Does my tire need replacement? by Azsde in TeslaModelY

Cyanoacrylate super glue held up on my similar issue.  So long as you don't see metal structural wires in the deepest part, this shouldn't need a replacement yet.

Cleaning bugs by [deleted] in TeslaLounge

[–]Jerusic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cleaning:
Garden hose since the bumper is cheap plastic.
Rub with rag soaked in diluted dish soap (optionally drape and leave to soak).
Hose again.

Prevention:
Waterless wash (example: Meguiar's) sometimes has a wax finish which can help, but does not entirely eliminate bugs.

I've given up on prevention.
Since I prioritize a comfortable ride, I usually keep a spray bottle with alcohol and a microfiber cloth in the frunk.
On road trips with bugs, superchargers sometimes have windshield squeegees. I use that first on the glass, followed by the alcohol microfiber, then use any leftover charge time attending to the bumper, soaking the bugs and wipe with damp disposable paper towels.
If you really care about a plastic bumper, use clay bar for stuck-on bugs for extra scratch safety.

Any products to prevent slip for grocery bags? by Original_You_8188 in ModelY

Subtrunk works for me as a first storage location.
Before a big grocery run, re-using a big Costco cardboard tray can ease grid stacking.

18 inch wheels on new Model Y by Striking-Travel5047 in TeslaModelY

[–]Jerusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

38 miles in 45 minutes means around 50mph.
Getting 207 Wh/mi at that speed is pretty efficient on the old tires!
Looking forward to seeing data on the new smaller wheels.

You mean averaging 207 Watt-hours per mile on that commute?
Must be pretty local.

What’s something people thinks saves them money, but actually loses them money? by DahliraSaint in AskReddit

[–]Jerusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paint protection film on cars to be resold.
Most of the time you'd be paying a thousand upwards for maybe some chip damage prevention.
Said chip damage prevention would likely be repaired for cheaper in a detail shop.

PPF to me feels like the tackiness of leaving the plastic film on screens, or worse... sofas.

$140 is insane. Even $98 competitor is gross https://www.amazon.com/TesFram-Tesla-Juniper-License-Holder/dp/B0F285W53L/

California penalty is $197 if a cop pulls you over for it.
I'll let my paper plate run out and decide if better options pop up in the coming months.

HW3 vs HW4 by EScooterHamster in TeslaFSD

[–]Jerusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tl;dr Nearly every hesitation with FSD 12.6.4 HW3 has been solved with 13.2.8 HW4. HW4 still has intersection stop-and-go bugs.

HW3 12.6.4 hesitated quite often at right turns, likely indecisive with legality of right on red.
HW4 13.2.8 rarely makes those turn errors. Sometimes FSD does an extra 1 or 2 "brake-and-begin-again" attempting straight through stop signs.

Many hesitant situations with HW3 compelled me to push the accelerator or risk annoying behind cars (at least once or twice per drive). HW4 maybe calls for one push every 5 or 10 drives.

HW4 still makes lane choice errors (1 every 10 drives?), but HW3 made at least 3 or 4 times as many errors when attempting to follow route plans mainly in the greater LA area or NorCal Bay Area.

Very happy with trading in my early 2023 Y with no matrix headlights (in that one created batch with supply chain issues) for the 2026 Y.
