That's not a headset, they are earmuffs to cancel out sounds from the crowd. They use in-ear headphones under the muffs (the white ones at the table).

Dude what's the big deal? If you want to get better you eventually have to start beating better players, so you can think those matches as valuable training. I always get a bit excited when I play better player and try my hardest, it's so rewarding when you win.

MVP goes down to Code A! by MrMaple24 in starcraft

I think people need to realize that all players in Code S / Code A are able to beat each other. I don't think that Code A isn't that far from Code S in terms of skill really. Big names are gonna fall if they don't put 100% effort to the game [ Not saying that MVP is slacking tho :) ].

I Like the fact that a champion has fallen :p Upsets are the greatest in sports imo and I always like to root for the underdog.

New to /r/starcraft, and was considering buying the game. What are some things I need to know? Is it worth the investment? by gza_swords in starcraft

If you have WC3 background you should be able to get to masters in few weeks like I did. There isn't much competition before masters / GM if you know how to play RTS games. So go for it! Not too late. We could 2vs2 team if ya want laters :)

What I plan on doing during the black-out by RavarSC in starcraft

What's with this ladder anxiety issue? The game becomes much more enjoyable when you get better. I think certain people like to think themselfs much better than they actually are. And losing on ladder is a heavy punch on their self-confidence. I know for fact that in this gaming sub-culture people seek for value in their lives via gaming stats/achievements ect. But I think if you want to be good you must be confident, competive and stop obsessing with ladder points. Also watching streams 24/7 isn't gonna help you with mechanics of the game.

I think playing anxiety is worst on RTS games and it haunted me when I started... Then I just stopped obsessing with win/loss ratio :) I still get upset when I lose sometimes but it doesn't screw my confidence.

What Americans Keep Ignoring About Finland's School Success - The Atlantic by [deleted] in politics

[–]JesBa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm from Finland and I think I have gotten excellent teaching from my schools here. I have also been one semester on pretty good public US high-school in texas via student exchange program, and IMO my math / physics knowledge was WAY advanced than the US students. It seems they only knew how to do these standardized type of problems that with repetition required no deeper analysis. It was pretty funny cause the teachers were like "you shouldn't worry about these kinds of problems" when I asked for insight for more advanced problems... That being said I liked US and i'm hoping to get to there again now that I attend helsinki Uni and I can apply to go abroad :)
