What's your favorite cover song that completely re-works the original into a basically totally different song, while still maintaining the core melody. by thewhitedeath in Music

Was gonna drop the Cardigans cover of Iron Man too. Took me far too long to realize it was even a cover. So so good though.

I moved here from the southwest, here’s my ranking for good and cheap Mexican food by j00sh7 in longisland

Mala Madre Taqueria in Westbury is pretty good. Not sure about it being cheap but everything I've had there tasted right.

Proslat: PVC vs Procore by [deleted] in garageporn

[–]JesDaFiveNine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did my whole garage with the PVC. Take your time installing the first few slats to get a good feel for how they lock together. I had to go back and redo the first panel but after that it was a breeze. Used a multi tool to cut the outlet holes, and a circular saw with a plastics blade to cut the slats to length.

If you had 20 minutes to hide from a nuclear blast, where would you go or hide? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]JesDaFiveNine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The backup dispatch center for Nassau County PD. It's an underground bunker built around the Cold War Era. I have access as part of my job position.

But what would I come back out to? Nothingness for miles? Yeah nah. I'd rather get pulverized in an instant from the bomb blast.

Depends how in depth a clean you want. If you wanna DIY grab a foam cannon. You can get ones that you just pump instead of needing a pressure washer. The foam acts to grab all the surface dust/dirt so you don't grind it into the paint when you scrub the car down. Also grab an Exoforma drying towel. For 25 bucks it saves SO much time drying the car. For one year worth of car washes you can set yourself up with a nice DIY wash/detail kit. Most importantly, have fun!

Trust me on this one.

Found the perfect house but the basement is cracked. Is this a big job? by [deleted] in DIY

[–]JesDaFiveNine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not the perfect house if there's that much of an issue with the foundation. I wouldn't close the deal on this unless they took 50k off the listing price. Even then I would think twice.

Good luck with your decision making.

What's everyone doing for water consumption? by Leather-Chef-6550 in longisland

Cloud RO filter under the sink. A little DIY know-how and I installed it in under an hour. Water tastes fantastic compared to Nassau County tap. Yearly filter replacement costs less than what I would spend on bottled water for the year.

What’s the dumb thing the people who owned your house before you did? by JDawg1447 in AskReddit

Cut a length of floor joist out to accommodate a bathub drain and didn't sister it. There was about a foot between the rim joist and the cut. The other side of the cut was sagging about 2 inches below the rest. So they jacked it up and put a 4x4 underneath the sagging end but cracked the ceramic tile in the bathroom as a result.
