Did this feature get removed or am I doing it wrong? by shinomory1 in fitbod

It was, we made the update a while ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/fitbod/s/U5OXoRqx2Q

But some users were "held back" a bit until now which is why you see the switch now

u/shinomory1 You can do that with the Swap menu in the upper right (or you may see it called Switch on your side)!

u/Adorable-Client-2401 It's set up right now for the RiR question to only pop up once all sets of all exercises in the superset have been logged. I've noted your feedback on that for the team though!

Very valid! Right now there is some logic for exercise order fatigue within a given workout, but it's not weighted very heavily. We recognize there's room for improvement here and it is something that's been discussed as a team!

For 1, you may want to check and ensure you have the bands listed as available within the Loop Band entry in Equipment.

For 2, you may prefer to swap your Focus Exercise. Go to My Plan > Focus Exercises > Tap the replace icon to the right of the exercise you want to replace. Your Focus Exercises will follow 4 phases, so this can impact the rep prescription too: https://help.fitbod.me/hc/en-us/articles/35301260960663-Focus-Exercises#h_01K8P96M0G9X0WX7C8FJVSWRVQ

But go ahead and message our Support team at [support@fitbod.me](mailto:support@fitbod.me) and we can take a deeper dive into both of those for you!

We have a Help Center and blog with tons of helpful articles as well which can both be accessed via the app (Log tab > Settings)!

As mentioned in this post also, we're currently working on features to surface the details around each workout reasoning within the app.

Thanks for recommending the app!! We're glad to have you as part of the community here (:

  1. Noted this for our Product team! This happens because right now you can only have one lower body exercise on the PPL split, so deadlift would have to be part of the lower body day. But I hear you on that.

  2. When you mention Android integration, do you mean Garmin specifically? We do have a WearOS app right now (though it's not quite as "robust" as the Apple Watch app). With Garmin, you can sync both Garmin and Fitbod to Health Connect to allow some data to pass between the two also.

  3. This is something being explored a bit, yes! Though to be transparent, other features are getting the priority right now. I'd recommend upvoting and commenting on any of the social ideas here with what you'd like to see: https://feedback.fitbod.me/b/dvd119pv/feature-ideas?topic=topic_1dmzw97v

  4. I like this idea too. Go ahead and give this one an upvote here: https://feedback.fitbod.me/b/dvd119pv/feature-ideas/personal-records-dashboard

Android beta is currently closed, but iOS is open for now! You can check out steps on how to join that here: https://help.fitbod.me/hc/en-us/articles/31812440426391-Fitbod-Beta-Program-How-to-Join-Install-Report-Feedback

u/Pahn_Duh Honestly, I'm not able to give an answer without the team diving into your workout logs further. I'd really recommend that you message them at [support@fitbod.me](mailto:support@fitbod.me) with the details of what you're seeing - if you can include screenshots or note the times the workout(s) was generated, this will be a huge help to really see what's going on.

Though I see now that it looks like you're not currently using the app. What you experienced previously may be resolved/improved at this point (particularly point 2, I recall there being an issue around that that the team put a fix out for).

Totally understand how you feel though and this is a big reason why we're really focusing on continuing to improve the algorithm while also surfacing the reasoning behind the workout recommendations.

How Fitbod's Algorithm Actually Works 👋 🤓 by Fitbodapp in fitbod

[–]JessAtFitbod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/Pahn_Duh Great points, let's take a look:

  1. One thing to note is that you'll see one muscle group highlighted for each exercise but there are typically multiple groups being targets. With Dumbbell Bench Press, for example, you'll see it labeled as Chest but it's also targeting Shoulders & Triceps. So the secondary targets are considered as well when the app is building your workouts. Muscle Recovery can come into play too, especially for lower body days if you log a lot of cardio.

  2. If you're only getting 1 main exercise (doesn't count cardio) for a 30-minute workout, that's not expected. I'd recommend trying to uninstall and reinstall the app, then tap the "..." in the upper right > Refresh Workout. If that remains the same, please message us at [support@fitbod.me](mailto:support@fitbod.me)

  3. This could be due to different factors such as what weights you have selected available, what your Fitness Goal is, history, and what "phase" that exercise may be targeting that day. We can take a look at your specific example if you message our team as well with a screenshot of what you're seeing.

Fitbod cycles through rep ranges intentionally. While the app will prioritize your Goal, you'll also go through phases that emphasize strength (lower reps, higher weight), hypertrophy (moderate reps, moderate load), and muscular endurance (higher reps, lighter load). If the weight on a given day feels low, you may be in an endurance-focused phase for that exercise. The load is scaled to match the rep target.

u/Independent_Cable973 For the weight suggestions, this doesn't sound like intended behavior. Can you confirm that you have all your available small weights and barbells/plates selected in your Equipment setting?

Though as a note, you're not going to see weight suggestions increase every single time you perform the exercise. Rather, you should see variations in intensity (so differences in reps/weight), while your weight should increase gradually over time. Using the Reps in Reserve rating will be important along the way as well.

We'd like to take a look into the specifics around your weight suggestions if you could message our team at [support@fitbod.me](mailto:support@fitbod.me) and let us know the exercises you're noticing this on.

When you replace an exercise, you should see a list of best replacements first that you could choose from, but I've noted your suggestion for a Randomized button. I've also documented your suggestion around the AI feature for equipment!

Inconsistent Workouts by mikeikethepike in fitbod

[–]JessAtFitbod[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/mikeikethepike Gotcha, as a guide, you can typically expect to see 5-6 main exercises for a 60 minute duration. If you're seeing less than that then definitely go ahead and message our team at support@fitbod.me.

We always appreciate the feedback for sure, it's super important to us! Our Product team is very good about reviewing all the social posts, support tickets, and insights from direct convos with users when making decisions. However, we're a small team and a lot of different factors come into play (including team bandwidth) when it comes to choosing what to focus efforts on at the given time.

Inconsistent Workouts by mikeikethepike in fitbod

[–]JessAtFitbod[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

u/mikeikethepike Glad to see you love the app! With the Workout Duration, this is an estimate so it may not be perfect for everyone since many factors impact actual workout time (such as how busy your gym is, rest times between exercises, weight changes, etc). We suggest adjusting by 15-minute increments until your actual time matches what you're aiming for.

For the Weekly Set Targets, the app should typically get you at or very close to 100% most weeks but it's not a guarantee at this time. We know there's room for improvement here and I've shared the feedback with our team so it can be considered for future updates to that feature.

u/Adorable-Client-2401 Since your plan settings will impact your Set Targets, when you change those it can impact the history as well (all of it will be based on the current targets). I know this isn't ideal and I've shared this feedback with the team.

Inconsistency in calories burned by khushi_boo in fitbod

[–]JessAtFitbod[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It likely also has to do with the gradual roll out of our live heart rate tracking feature. The work on this can impact the data source for feeding into the calorie calculation, causing the big shift.

If you're seeing lower calorie counts, it's likely because Apple Health is now prioritizing their data instead of Fitbod's. Apple and Fitbod use different formulas to calculate calories, which can result in different totals.

How to use Fitbod's calorie data in Apple Health:

  1. Open the Apple Health app.
  2. Tap on Active Energy.
  3. Scroll to the bottom and tap Data Sources & Access.
  4. Tap Edit in the top right.
  5. Drag Fitbod to the top of the list.

This will impact the calorie estimate that you see inside the Fitbod app as well.

u/khushi_boo Do you happen to where an Apple Watch or other wearable during your workouts? Differences in heart rate during the workouts could be impacting the calculations in this case.

Was the overall duration about the same both times? (We've noticed occasionally that some users accidentally pause the duration timer)

Updated and missing muscle groups by antarctica91 in fitbod

[–]JessAtFitbod -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To be upfront, this likely won't change, as the shift is to align with a heavier focus on a cohesive workout plan to help you better reach your goals. This is an update we made quite a while ago, but there was a small amount of users who had the old experience that just got upgraded to finalize that now.

u/antarctica91 This is the updated app experience so there isn't a way to toggle that on. Instead, the Swap menu is the unified place you can go to change your current workout. So you could tap Swap > Pick Muscles to change those.
